Last Day in La Penita This Season

WHERE ARE WE? La Penita, Nayarit, Mexico

Well today will be the last long walk on the beach for a few months.  We might get a short one tomorrow but thats only if I get up in good time.  Archie will miss all the rotting fish smells, and chewing on all the fish bones that are on the beach.  He must have guts of steel by now with all the strange things he has eaten.

I headed downtown about 12;30 to check to see if the pills I ordered on Sunday had arrived.  Yup they had just arrived so I paid for them and now I can get ready to leave tomorrow.  I was hungry so I headed over to El Toro for lunch.  Fish tacos were my choice today.  I love this restaurant because they own the fish shop across the street so everything is fresh.

I noticed the street construction crew had brought a grader in.  It is all painted up nice but is an old 120G Cat much like the old grader we used to have on our construction crew back home.

I spent the afternoon loading up RRV and the Jeep to get ready for an early start tomorrow.  It was real hot today so I had to spend some time in the pool to keep the body temperature in check.  Oddly enough the last Flyball ball decided we were done for the season so it decided to give up.  Good timing.

By the time the sun was going down, I was all loaded up and hooked up I was ready to relax a bit.

Sun set was a bit of a let down as the clouds obscured the actual setting, however the after colours were well worth waiting for.  And Joel dropped by to say goodbye.

I went to check out Oscar at the old Cafecito and Kenia, Suzanna and the new staff at the new cafecito. Both places were doing a surprisingly brisk business. That is good.  Kenia made me a yummy strawberry smoothy.  They thought they might come to see me off in the morning.  I better get some sleep so I'm good for the trip tomorrow. Good Nite!!!

Kenia's Cafecito Opening

WHERE ARE WE? La Penita, Nayarit, Mexico

Well this is delay day Number 1.  That means I got to go for another walk on the beach with Archie.  

And you guessed it, one more time to have birria for breakfast. 

There are a bunch of streets getting torn up.  They are going to rebuild them which will be nice for biking.  Apparently the municipality of Compostela is looking to spend a little money in La Penita.  I look forward to seeing the progress they make when we come back in the fall.

Today is the big opening day of Kenia's new Cafecito.  I spent some time there this afternoon watching them all working like busy little bees.  Kinda funny, now that I am older, they don't expect anything from me.   They set me on a chair and I get to watch.  LOL  Things are coming together real nice.

The grand opening was advertised for 5 pm and true to Mexican timing, about 7:30 they opened the doors.  There was a nice little crowd to cheer Kenia on as she cut the ribbon to open the place.  We are very proud of her, and she is over the moon for realizing one of her dreams.

My Trip North is Delayed by a Couple Days

WHERE ARE WE? La Penita, Nayarit, Mexico

Today was the last chance to get birria at Abuela's so I headed over there about 9:30.  I had asked Kenia and Oscar to meet me there but Kenia said she was busy today.  Tomorrow will be a big day for her and the Cafecito.  The birria was awesome as usual.

I mentioned that tomorrow will be a busy day for Kenia, because tomorrow will be the grand opening of her new Cafecito by Kenia!!!  How exciting it will be to open another location that has a little more class than the street vendor cart.  So that made me postpone my date to leave.  Kenia is so proud of this new venture and would like us to be there.  I will represent "us" tomorrow afternoon at the grand opening.

Today Jen and Ed started their Northern trek.  They got away about 12:30 and we all said our goodbyes.  In all the hub bub, I didn't even take a picture.  You will just have to believe me.  They are safe and sound in Mazatlán tonight and will continue on North tomorrow.  See you in the fall!!!

One thing I am trying to do last minute today is to gather some medications that my friend Harold found only here in Mexico, and takes back home.  Because they did not come to Mexico this year they asked Sue to pick some up but she had to leave in a hurry so I have been tasked with the job.  I have looked in 10 different Farmacias and only came up with 7 - 30 pill packs.  He needs a minimum of 12 to get him through until next year.  One Farmacia offered to order them in but they won't be here till Tuesday so what the heck..... I will delay my departure to Wednesday.  I still have lots of time to get home before the 25th.  

I saw something I don't normally see today when Joel went for swim in the ocean.  He is not really one to do this very often so he was laughing at me taking photos.

Sunset was a little different tonight.  There was a couple set up on the beach right outside our fence and his goal was to propose to his girl.  He did a good job of it and I'm sure she said yes.  I got a photo of the happy couple.

A Dead Frog is a Good Frog

WHERE ARE WE? La Penita, Nayarit, Mexico

A walk on the beach and some trip planning was the projects of today.  I'm actually going to miss the beach but I will enjoy the green grass at home. Oh now I got the song going through my head!!! Green Green Grass of Home!!!

I will have no navigator so have to make sure I know the route and options.

Interesting to see where this is at in the fall

I had a haircut booked this afternoon and while I was down town I took a couple pictures of cute dogs.

Wanda will recognize one of them.  

And the haircut of course.  I needed it for 2 reasons, first cause I wouldn't make a month until I get back home, and second is because a haircut is $10 Cnd here and $25 at home.  I'm not complaining about the price back home because it is what it is, but we are getting into a real crisis in Canada.  Hopefully people figure it out sooner than later.

A couple weeks ago Susan and I went for Liver and Onions at El Pollito and they had none.  So I went back today and "Bingo" they had some.  I got my fill but sorry Sue missed out. 

Later in the afternoon we found a cane toad in the bathroom.  Cane toads are deadly to dogs if they lick them enough so this one had to meet the shovel.  We have found a few of them around here this year.  A couple years ago one of Suzannes dogs died from an encounter with one, so we make sure we are always on our toes to watch out for them.
