Lots of Work on the Golf Course

WHERE ARE WE? Rivers Provincial Park, Rivers Manitoba

This afternoon was a little warmer so Dani and I spent the afternoon working on cleaning up the golf course.  First thing we do is give it a good mowing and then we use the leaf blower to clean everything to outside the fence where we can deal with it.  It is a lot of work but only needs to be done once a year.

I spent my time fixing all the flat tires on the equipment.  Actually there were only 3.

And the lawn tractor got an oil and filter change.

Then came the favourite job of every RV owner.  Getting rid of the waste with the Blue Boy.  It is handy to haul it with the lawn tractor.

Sheri and Dani came over and we had a couple games of cards.  They like to play games in the evening.

And tonight was Survivor night as well.  Survivor 50 is getting to be quite interesting.  There are lots of twists to it.  Good Nite!!!

A Music Recital

WHERE ARE WE? Rivers Provincial Park, Rivers Manitoba

More work getting things out of their winter hideaways.  I store the boats and the wood truck in the wood compound for the winter so they have to be moved so we can use the wood yard for the summer.

A squirrel has wintered in one of the wood boxes.

I loaded up a few totes of wood to take up to what will be our summer camp site.  It is at the far end of the campground and has a little creek running beside it.  Archie of course had to check out the muddy part of the creek.

We headed over to Reston tonight to check out the piano recital for Emma and Silas.  They are both getting quite good at playing.

Emma and Silas played a duet

We also brought home Nikki's truck so that we can take it to Woodridge to pick up a travel trailer to bring back to the park on Sunday.  Woodridge is just under 400 kms away.  It was nice of her to let us use it because we have no vehicles with a hitch to pull it that distance.   We had to stop at Tim Hortons on the way home to get some coffee and donuts.  They had a special promotion on cookies and were giving the proceeds to charity.  We got a couple to go.

Sunset was in the rear view mirror tonight.  Good Nite!!!

The Clean Up Continues

WHERE ARE WE? Rivers Provincial Park, Rivers Manitoba

This morning as I looked out the front window I was reminded that it was still winter outside.  The ice is still lingering on the lake but there are lots of ducks and geese back.  They do have open water along the beach so they are happy.

Today Jill and Mia started work in the shack.  They are the ones that put everything away so we made sure they were the first to be called in because they know where everything goes.  They have a lot of fun working together and there is lots of laughter.

One thing we do a couple times a year is pull out the ice cream freezers to clean up some of the spills that go over the edge.

Mia laughed because the one freezer had a pen stuck to some sticky ice cream spill.

I found a little friend outside when I was moving some of the lattice on the deck.  Yup that is a bat and boy was he not happy.  He showed his teeth and hissed at me and it worked because I went away and left him hoping he would be gone in the morning.

We finished up watching some Sons of Anarchy.  Good Nite!!!

Snow?? Snow??? What is this White Stuff?

WHERE ARE WE? Rivers Provincial Park, Rivers Manitoba

Our day started with a big surprise.  What is that white stuff we see out the window.  I should have stayed in Mexico for 1 more week.

Archie says what is that?

Today was moving day for Sheri and Dani.  They will be spending the summer in the Ponderosa and helping us out a bit at Cj's.

They brought all there stuff and just piled it.  Two girls so a lot of stuff.  Good thing there is lots of storage in the Ponderosa.

Although it is fairly cold out (High 5C) I got my coat on and started getting some of the outside stuff started and all the tires checked.

And it is nice to be back to 9 pm sunsets.  That is one of the things I like about prairie summers.  They are talking about making Daylight Savings time all year round here.  That would be great.  I got a shot of sunset while Archie and I were out for a run.  Well Archie runs, I drive the car. lol  Good Nite!!!

Church Day

WHERE ARE WE? Rivers Provincial Park, Rivers Manitoba

One of the things that we are doing this year is attending church on a regular basis.  Our grand kids have shown an interest and we think that being exposed to church and giving them the opportunity to explore options for living their lives is a good thing.  And after my being brought up in a church environment, I look forward to being involved in a church family again.  So about 10:30 I picked up Grace and off to Sunday School we went.  Susan is getting a cold so she opted out today.  We really enjoyed it!!  Because it is a smaller church, we know everyone who goes there.

When I got home it was still cold outside.  I had to replace my propane hose on RRV so we could use propane from a 20 lb tank.  We do not have a propane outlet that will fill RV's nearby, so I just use the smaller tanks and take them to town to refill.  I managed to drag the original line down the highway on the way home so needed a new one and hadn't got around to changing it yet.  Today was the day.

Ready
Dani and Sheri brought us supper tonight and then stayed for a couple games.  They are moving into the Ponderosa so will be here more often as they get closer to the move.  Thanks for supper.  Good Nite!!!

Memories of the Outhouse on the Farm

WHERE ARE WE? Rivers Provincial Park, Rivers Manitoba

The weather is like normal Manitoba weather....COLD!!!!!  We are hunkered down in RRV with the heat on watching lots of TV.  Archie and I still go for some exploration walks but they are short because we get too cold.  My blogs posts will be pretty blah for a few days until the weather smartens up.

I do take a trip down memory lane to the outhouse.  It brings back memories of the farm when I was a kid and we had to use the outhouse when it was cold.  The memories flood back as I carefully seat myself on these cold days.  Thought you might like to know.

Sheri and Dani came to visit tonight and we played a game of cards.  Then some TV and bed. Good Nite!!!

A New Starlink.

WHERE ARE WE? Rivers Provincial Park, Rivers Manitoba

Today was a day of errands.  We headed to Brandon to pick up some things.  Our Starlink router bit the dust so we have to buy a new one from Home Depot.  This means I will have to make a new mount on the top of RRV before we hit the road again.  We got the standard size one again but the bottom mount is different.

Then a quick stop at Walmart and home we went.

And of course a coffee for the road.

To all the girls that work at Cj's, look what I had for lunch??  They all laugh at me and my hot dog snacks on the fly in the summer.

Archie has been busy chasing squirrels and exploring so he is beat by the end of the day.  He likes to curl up and watch TV with us in the evening.  He is happy to be back with his mama.

The lake ice is looking kinda soggy and it won't be long before it is gone.  Until then it makes the breeze quite chilly when it blows that way.  We are snug as a bug in a rug with our furnace running almost continuously at night.  We will survive.  Good Nite!!!
