Late Valentines, Early Birthdays

Well this morning Sue and I had to head to Ocala to talk to the Cummins dealer about working us in to their schedule.  We need them to scan the system and confirm whether we need a new ECM (Engine Control Module) or not.  I think we do, and have thought that for some time but one has to rule out all the other things as well.  Ocala is about 40 miles east of us and is in beautiful horse pasture country.  We arrived at the Cummins Dealer about 11 am and the lady listened to my story and then looked at the schedule and told me that they would be able to look at it next Thursday at 1 pm.  Now that is about a week away, but the good news is that they do lots of work on Motorhomes, and they actually have a campground where we can stay free of charge with electric and water, for as long as we are being worked on.  Sold!!   We will be in a warm spot and will be in our own house for the duration of the repair.  What more could we ask for.

So next we called Coach-Net to schedule our tow over there.  My gosh they were so accommodating.  I told them where we had our appointment and they said they would tow it there as soon as possible.  I even gave them a towing company name that Beasley Tire recommended and they lined them up for the tow.  We will be picked up between 8 and 9 tomorrow morning.  No Charge!!  This tow job alone will pay for our premiums for a long time.

We headed back to Inglis to relax for a bit.  I went over to Beasley Tire and you know what?  For all the help they gave us, they only charged us 2 hours labour.  We are so blessed with people who don't seem preoccupied with just getting what they can from people in distress.  I would encourage anyone who needs tires and are going to be going up or down 19/98 highway, to give them a call.  They will look after you real well I can assure you. Jen has been our Service Manager through all of this and is the friendliest person you would ever want to meet.  She has made us feel welcome here, and has bent over backwards to try to help us out.  Thank you for everything you did for us Jen!!

Well with everything all set up for morning it was time to celebrate Valentines Day along with Sue and Harold's Birthdays.  Mr. Beasley had recommended the Blackwater Restaurant in Yankee Town to us, and once again he was right on with his advice.  It is only about 5 miles from where we are parked.

The Restaurant is right down by the river near us, and Sue told us that she had met one of the waitresses at the local Shell the other day.  She had told Sue as well to come down if we wanted a good meal.  Well guess who our waitress?  Yup, it was Thea, the girl Sue had talked to.  Thea was a heck of a waitress and took lots of time to make sure we were comfortable with the specials and the menu and all the good stuff a good waitress should do.  We got talking about her dream which is fixing up the 32 ft sailboat they have here in the marina and heading off to the Bahamas with her boyfriend next November.  It is so neat to meet someone with dreams which are similar to ours.   We wish her the very best in life.  She is an awesome girl.

She plans on doing a You Tube Channel on the boat renovation and their travels.  Here is what she will call it.  We hope to follow her travels when she gets it up and running.  Bon Voyage Thea!!

Then we got down to the nitty gritty of supper.  First some appy's to satisfy that raging hunger.  Bacon wrapped Shrimp with some awesome sauce and some salads. P & H had to fight over the last morsels.

The main course was awesome.  I can honestly say it was one of the best meals I have had in a restaurant in a long long time.  Everything was perfect.

And of course a couple desserts to finish up with.  2 of them were free because of the Birthdays and of course I had to have one of my own!!  Burp!!

We had a great spot overlooking the river and as the sun set the view changed a bit. This is such a pretty area of Florida and we have met the most wonderful people while we were here.  Harold mentioned at supper that if we had not broke down here, we never would have met these people nor had these awesome experiences. How true.

Here was the view out our window tonight looking across to the saloon across the street.  They have karaoke there until about 2 pm.  I will be using the ear plugs again tonight!!

  1. Things seem to be working out for you folks and I'm glad to hear you are being well taken care of. Always interesting to find wonderful folks along the way. I'm curious to know if Cummins will put up your friend Harold and his wife until your service is complete? Good luck, stay safe.

  3. Maybe Harold can get his AC fixed at the same time so he can stay as well.
Hoping it will be a quick and inexpensive fix.

  4. Well if you had to break down at least you did it in a place with nice people willing to go out of there way to help you guys out. It is amazing how things work out in a beautiful way sometimes. I know our first year out we had to replace all our tires on our 5th wheel and ended up staying at one of prettiest parks we have ever stayed at. I think the key is going with the flow and you two seem to do it well. Stay safe.

  7. Being broke down in itself is not fun, but how you decide to fix it can be the fun part. There are many many great people out here and they are not all out to get you. And if they are, there is not much we can do about it. We will survive and be better for it.
