Visiting Friends in Largo

Today we are going to drive over to Largo near St Petersburg, which is about a 2 hour drive.  Sue and I have a friend over there who used to be Sue's mom's best friend.  As you know Sue's mom Kathy passed away a couple years ago, and it is important to Sue to stay in touch with Jean.  I have met her a few times too and consider her a friend as well.   Before we left, I had to admire the leafy carpet surrounding our Ponderosa

We made it to Jean's place and met her friend Doug and her for lunch at their nice trailer in a park there.   It is so nice to sit outside in the Florida room and visit.  Doug has an interesting background and has hiked and biked almost everywhere in the world.  He still has a lengthy bucket list to accomplish yet, and it made me tired just listening to him.  How many people have been to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro, or biked 4 times across America.  That was just a few of his accomplishments.  That was interesting, but the fact that he was such a nice guy impressed us more.  They make perfect companions.  We hope to drop in on them again sometime in our travels.

We left the Ponderosa at 10:30 this morning and drove to Jean and Doug's and stayed there about 2 hours and then drove home again.  We still didn't get home until almost 6 pm.  I hate Florida traffic.  At least when we arrived home, we were the only car around, and there was the sound of silence in the park.  This was the view out our window tonight.

  1. That is very nice that Sue likes to keep in touch with Jean. I'm sure she values the visits as much as Sue does.

  2. Very nice to keep in touch with friends that often slip by the wayside after a death. Cudo's to you and Sue for making the effort.
I love the view out your window.

  3. There was never a doubt that we had to visit. She is as much a friend of ours as she was of Sues mom. It is neat to reminisce. I sometimes find out things about Sue that I never knew!!
