Start your Engine!!

This was an exciting day for us.  Rich told us on Friday that Chris the mechanic would be on our doorstep at 7 am to get started putting us together again.  Now with the time change, 7 am is a little dark still, so Chris worked on the pump for a while in the shop before bringing it out to the MH.

It wasn't long and the sun came up and thats when he actually brought all the parts over in his truck.  Chris is the road mechanic and we have been lucky enough to be able to use him for our entire repair.  He is a smart cookie and just works away with very little verbiage.  If you ask him a question, most times all you will get is a nod.  He just gets it done!

Chris had all the parts laid out ready for the install in no time.

Injector pump with cover off

Injectors

Valve cover and gasket
I was going to help him put the pump up inside the motor compartment because the darn thing weighs 70 pounds, but before I knew it, it was already in place.  No idea how he did it but there certainly wasn't a lot of grunting.

He worked away under there for a long time and if it got hot he would come inside to do some work where we had the air conditioning on.

He worked away and had it all back together about 2 pm. New injector pump, new air compressor, and new injectors.  We are pretty much covered.

He got me to do some run throughs with the key to prime the pumps and bleed the system. Then it was go time.  I turned the key and vroom it fired right up.   Boy that felt good.  We have not heard that sound for 4 weeks.  In fact it was Monday Feb 11 that we broke down, and it is now Monday March 11 and we are fixed.  We took it for a little test drive and it runs good.  It has lots of power like it should have.  I guess the first pump we put on back in Wisconsin must not have been rebuilt right because it didn't have any power at all then, compared to what it has now.

We are happy and will spend the evening going over our travel plans.  This will be the last view out our window from Ocala FL.  We will miss this place.  The Cummins people have been so great to get along with and they have just accepted us hanging around like we belong.  Thanks everyone.
