Meeting Up With Old Friends

WHERE ARE WE? Numero Uno RV Park, La Penita, Mexico

If you remember my few posts last summer when we were home working Cj's, the thing I disliked the most was having to get up to do the 6:30 delivery truck thing.  Well this morning we were up before 6:30 but it was to do something we looked forward to.

We were heading down the road toward Puerto Vallarta this morning to meet some friends who we have not seen in a long time.  These people were responsible for talking us into venturing into Mexico and we are grateful for that.  The joy of our nomadic lifestyle is that no matter where we go, we can meet up with friends from the past.

Do you know who it is?  If you read RV blogs you will recognize them by their van Igor!!

Yup it is Kevin and Ruth!!!  They write the blog Travel with Kevin and Ruth.  They are world wide RV travelers and Kevin told me today that they have been in 72 countries in every continent with the exception of Antartica.  Wow!!  Anyway they are staying in PV for a couple weeks and we decided to get together and take a little tour up the coast to La Penita.  This is all old stomping ground for them so I think they enjoyed seeing it all again.  First thing on our list was to visit a crocodile viewing area which is not too far from the airport.  I had never heard of it before but it was a great place to some big ones.  There were 7 crocs there and they ranged from 12 to 15 feet long with big bellies.  We didn't know why they were so fat until we realized later that there was a tourist beach just a couple hundred yards down the little river.  lol

thank God for the chainlink fence

wow thats a biggun!!!

We followed the little dirt trail from there down about a half mile and came across this beach with lots of eat and drink places.  I estimate there were chairs for 1500 to 2000 people, so it must rock in the later afternoon.  When we were there, there was hardly anyone there.  A couple beach walkers (crocodile food) was all we saw.  If you read Kevin's blog he knows the name of where we were.

crocs have ocean access down by the rock jetty

Lots of empty chairs on the beach

Kevin did a little bit of a rock climb!

After a nice walk we headed down the road toward Punta Mita.  Kevin and Ruth have some blog followers that they have never met that are on the beach there and we were all in agreement to meet them.  They were at a beach club along our route.  We met Doug and Judy and spent an hour or so chatting on the beach.  Amazingly they are from North Bay Ont. where we have family.  Small world.  I hope they start following our blog as well and start dropping the odd comment.  Thanks for a lovely visit.

After we left Doug and Judy to enjoy their afternoon on the beach we headed up toward Sayulita.  We were passing through a little town and Kevin saw a little chicken place.  I smelled it about the same time and we did a U turn back to it.  No idea what the name of it was but they had heavenly chicken.  We ordered a whole chicken with rice and salad and had drinks for under 300 peso's for all 4 of us.  And this chicken was finger licken good!!!!  Good eye Kevin!!!

The smell is what got us!!! Mmmmmmmm!!

We continued on up to La Penita and spent a couple hours just hanging out chatting.

It was Kevins Birthday today and they were planning to go out for supper so about 4 they headed out to catch a bus back to PV.   It was a wonderful day with them and we wished them safe travels.  Who knows when our paths will cross again!!!  That is what is nice about our Gypsy lifestyles.

We had a quick nap and it was time to join everyone for the sunset get together.  We sure love sitting around the new palapas!!

We haven't been to Kenia's Cafecito since she moved to Guayabitos so we decided tonight was the night.  We had waffles and a strawberry smoothie and it was good as usual.  Kenia had a few customers while we were there so that was good.  It won't be long and she will be back in La Penita.

mmmmmm

Another busy day for us but we loved every minute of it.  We enjoyed the sunset again tonight as well.  Good Nite!!
