Kids fly back to Manitoba

This is the day that Kaitlyn and Grace fly home.  It has been 17 days since we picked them up in San Diego and time has just flown by.  We had a nice morning Happy Hour today with everyone enjoying the warm sun.  Lots of happy conversation about everything that we have done, and some planning what we will do in the next week while Kevin and Rhonda are here.

Sue, Pat, Kaitlyn, Kyra, Grace, Rhonda, Harold, Kevin.
After coffee Sue and I grabbed Grace while Kaitlyn packed and we headed out for a walk.  Grace walked a long way, most of it down hill with her wee legs going sometimes faster than her body.  She has a few war wounds on her hands and knees from the last couple weeks of hiking and falling, but is none the worse for wear.

Charlie enjoyed the walk as well and spent lots of time seeking out varmints.  I don't think he had any luck catching anything.

When we got half way down to the lake we were wore out so we took a selfie and headed back up the hill to see how Kaitlyn was making out finding everything that Grace has tucked away in the last while.

Grace decided that maybe riding in the wagon would be an easier way to get back to the top of the hill.  Smart girl.  We are starting to see the desert bloom and these purple flowers (weeds) are very pretty, and they match Susans shirt.

Amma wanted a picture with Grace in the wagon so we stopped for a nice one.

We headed for the airport just before noon and stopped in Henderson for lunch at a Chili's.  As usual we ate way too much but I must admit it was great food.

Then it was off to McCarran airport for their trip back to Winnipeg Manitoba.

One more "fishy kiss" in the parking lot before heading in to drop them off.  Today wasn't terribly busy there and they got through security relatively fast and disappeared through the doors to their gate.

Then Sue and I headed out into the traffic of Las Vegas to make our way home to our spot at Lake Mead. We had supper with our friends and then a quiet evening at the Ponderosa.

Tonight we are at Lake Mead on Government Wash Road 36.12391, -114.8338 and this is the view from our window

  1. I'm sure it is hard to see the girls go but my oh my you did a lot in 17 days! You've got some great pictures here of you both with the wee gal. We love Chili's, Bill says their Ultimate bacon burger is the best where I love all their Mexican fare. Lake Mead looks nice.
