A Trip to the Beach

Today was beach day.  The forecast promised to give us some nice warm weather for sitting on the beach.  We have travelled a long way for this.  So we packed up a picnic lunch and off we went.  Biloxi MS is about 30 minutes south of us and then another 10 minutes from there to a dog friendly beach.  We thought it would be important for Charlie to share in the experience.

Everyone loved getting their toes in the nice soft white sand and even the water was warm enough to walk in.

I was thinking as I walked, about what hurricane was guilty of making this pier into just sticks in the water.  Us prairie folk can't even fathom the power of a hurricane.

We were treated to a dolphin show as a couple swam by gracefully breaking the surface just enough to say "Look at us"!.  It was mentioned that maybe this was not actually a dolphin, but maybe a shark!!  Everyone started humming the theme from "Jaws"!!!

We all enjoyed a nice walk and finished it off with a picnic on the beach.  It was so funny because we are so conscious of our seniority, because after lunch all of us had a short nap in the lawn chairs.  For 10 minutes there was nothing but silence.

On our trip home we headed west to Gulfport and then north to De Soto National Forest where we are parked.

There were lots of Oyster Bars along the way.  I would like to try some oysters one day but I'm not sure how many drinks I would need to have first to eat a raw one.

When we got home we were pleasantly surprised by a nice pile of firewood waiting for us.  Our neighbours have dropped it off for us.  What great people!!  We will have to find a way to repay them but in the meantime we are very grateful.

Not all views out the window are pretty, but sometimes when you choose a parking spot it should be functional.  So I will share that view today.  Enjoy!
