Poor Old Jeep

This morning I headed into town to do the dreaded laundry.  I don't actually mind doing laundry as long as I have things to do in between.  Anyway I now have 8 clean pairs of underwear so I will be good until about Christmas time!!!  Some of it got hung on the Motorhome line.

After lunch I headed up to Oak River to see if the local fix it shop would have time to have a look at my Jeep which has developed a rattle in the drive train.  Well it got a little worse on the 20 minute trip and by the time I got to Mr. T's it was quite noticeable.  Scott came out immediately and crawled underneath and wiggled and jiggled and determined that the rear end was about to explode.  He recommended that I not drive it home so I called Sue to come get me and I left it with him.  He will find a used rear end and get me on the road as quick as he can.  

Meantime I will be driving the wood truck!!!

We employ lots of school age kids so this time of year is graduation time.  Sue and I thought this was a good sign for our establishment.  We hope all our kids got a better educatchion than this.   Good Nite!!

There is a hole in my Heart Today.

Today is Fathers Day, and today is bitter sweet.  I received Fathers Day greetings from all our kids today which were appreciated.  I love our kids, all of them.  But this morning I woke with a hole in my heart because I knew there would be no text from Derek today.  His wife Nicole texted me with good wishes which means a lot to me.  She has that same empty feeling as us.  It is one of those firsts which are not easy.  Love you Nicole and I would give the world for you not to have to experience these moments.  I felt him near today and it made me smile.

Sunday is supposed to be a day of rest.  Well not around here.  I just seem to change my priorities and instead of doing Cj's stuff, I do little chores around the motorhome.  This morning I got up on the roof and replaced the vent cover that blew off a couple months ago.

While I was up there I took some pictures of our surroundings.  

Then I went inside and fixed a couple drawers and changed out the big clunky table out for a small one.  It will serve us better.

Do you remember the corner booth that I took out of Percy?  Well we put it in the Ponderosa and I think it will work!!  It doesn't look that bad.

Sheri is having her first ever buffet supper at "Cj's on the Links" for fathers day and she invited us up to try it out.  We even had a reservation!!!

She had a yummy buffet with roast beef, meatballs, carrots, potatoes and a pile of salads with dessert and a drink included.  It was delicious!!!  It is so amazing to watch her grow in the restaurant business.  She is doing this one all on her own and is killing it.   Thanks for feeding old dad tonight.  Oh yes and our waitress was Dani!  She did an awesome job and I realized when I got halfway home that I never even offered to pay for supper nor did I tip Dani.  Cheap old grampa!!!  I will get them later I guess.  

I left everything I didn't like behind!!  It was all good.

When we got home we saw that Walkers Greenhouse had been here to plant our flowers in the trellis thingy!!  Thanks Kendra and Travis for looking after us so well!!

If you are squeamish maybe just skip this part and don't look at the next picture.  Archie has been chasing gophers since we arrived back at the park and generally he is looking the wrong way as the gopher escapes.  Well tonight he worked real hard and finally had his first trophy.  He was soooooo proud.  I know its kinda gross but it is a huge thing for him.  Good Boy!!!  Good Nite!!!

Another Saturday Night

It almost seems like the blog is getting a little repetitive however that is how are lives are in the summer.  Lots of repetition.  Any way today I caught the taste tester at work again!  It is necessary to make sure that the ice cream quality remains the same.

In the afternoon I went to Walkers Greenhouse to pick up the trellis thingy that Travis built for us over the winter.  It will be quite pretty when they come to plant the flowers and they get matured.  We think it might be used for some picture taking purposes.

And it is Saturday so time for "Music in the Park".  Dave was back to run the show and we had a couple other girls join in for a while.  We had another good crowd again tonight.  By the time it was all over, we were pooped!  So we went to bed.  Good Nite!!!

It's a Bear!!

We had Max come to spend the day with us and when I headed over to the shack he came with me.  He said "look grampa the garbage is tipped over."  Sure enough it was and there were some big rips in the bag.  We don't normally have racoons down here so there was only one other thing it could be.  Yup a bear!!!

We knew there was a bear around last night because Archie was restless and barked a lot.  We actually heard the bear crashing through the underbrush near our motorhome and he was making lots of bear sounds.  So I looked up and saw a hamburger wrapper up in the tree right by the shack!!

Hmmm thats funny!!  Then I saw that the bark on the tree had claw marks in the shape of a bear paw.  He had found something tasty to snack on and climbed the tree to make sure he could eat it in peace I guess.  He has been around a few times now and has not been a nuisance yet.  One of the things that will make them a nuisance is food so we will be more vigilant on keeping our garbage's empty at night.

The only other thing going on in my life today was doing some wood runs to sell firewood to the campers.  Sheri dropped by and gave me a hand filling the totes.  I love to spend time with my kids.  The wood sales thing gives me something to do and I love talking to everyone along the way.  Good Nite!!

Supply Delivery Day

WHERE ARE WE? Rivers Provincial Park, Rivers Manitoba

Delivery day for our food and Ice cream.  Tim from Pratts shows up sometime between 6:15 and 6:30.  He is used to working at this time of day and he has to leave Winnipeg around 3 am to make his rounds.  He is a great guy and looks after us well.  We usually like to have a coffee and an egger ready for him when he is done.

Its not long and he has our kitchen full of stuff.  Because he is delivering for us as well as Cj's on the links, we have a pretty big shipment each time.  Sue and I and Sheri spend about an hour sorting it all out and getting stuff in freezers and fridges.

We had so much Ice Cream that we had to put some in the Ice freezer!!!  We normally have 24 flavours in our inventory, but now Sheri is offering Ice Cream too so we had a few more flavours this time.

Sue and I generally spend a little time on quality control and today we were watching a taco wrap being made.  We approve.  It looks and will taste amazing.
