Time Marches On

WHERE ARE WE? Rivers Provincial Park, Rivers Manitoba

Wow, it is Saturday again.  This is the 6th Saturday since we opened and the 6th "Music in the Park"!!!  Time is flying so fast.  We had a great evening for the music and a good turnout.  Dave, Terry, Jen and Laurie entertained us for a couple hours.  It is something I look forward to every week.

I took a drive up top after the music and this was the sunset tonight.  We don't see many from where the shack is down low by the water.

A little snicker before bed.  Good Nite!!

We Celebrated our Graduates Today!!

Today was Grad Day in Rivers.  We did remain open at the shack all day, however we slipped away for the grad parade and some pictures.  

A couple of pictures as we waited on the corner for the parade to pass by.  Notice the sign and the face!!!

My parade pictures were a total flop but here they are.  The parade is a nice way to get to see the grads for all the towns people.  It started in Covid year and has continued.

We wanted some pictures with the Cj's Grads so we headed down to the rink.  They all looked great in their grad dresses.  We have 2 grads that currently work for us at Cj's Snack Shack.

Sheri also celebrates with 2 more Grads who worked with her at Cj's on Ice all winter.  Because we were in Mexico we didn't have any interaction with them but they were close with Sheri.

Friends May Come and Friends May Go!!!

Today was delivery day for us so I was up at 6 am.  I am not an early risers so this is a real tough thing for me to do.  Sheri always comes to help and today even George came to help.  We have lots of boxes that need to be broke down and he helped a bit with that!!

Today they were heading out on the last leg of their journey and wanted to be home in good time.  So they hooked up their Jeep and away they went.  See you another time.  

The Saskatoon berries are starting to get ripe.  Some trees have lots of them and others not so much.  We hope we can get enough for a good feed this year.

Just a quick look into our busy little kitchen at Cj's.  Even the boss is working today.

Another great day that came to an end at a bonfire at Jim and Marilyn's.  We have a good arrangement with them.  I supply the wood and they make sure there is a nice warm fire waiting for us after we close up shop.  Good Nite!!!

A Trip to the Dr.

Since we opened we have had Ice Caps for sale.  They didn't seem to catch on and the machine required more cleaning.  The mix would actually go sour if left too long. So today we had Forbidden Flavours come to restock us with coffee and slushies so we decided to change the Ice Caps to Cherry slushie.  It has a great taste and I bet will be a hit with the kids.

I had an appointment with the skin doctor this morning in Brandon.  Back three or four years ago I was referred to him because I had some weird spots on my forehead.  It turned out to be nothing but I have been on the list to see him every year for a check, mainly because I am fair skinned.  The appointment this year took a grand total of 45 seconds and I was done.  Will do it again next year.

After such a traumatic event it is a must that you take time to reflect on your situation and what better way than with some comfort food.  And there is just the restaurant up the road from the Dr. office.  So thats where I went!!

I should mention that to get there I had to go up my favourite street.  Thanks Brandon for naming it after me!!!

Back at home we noticed that our bird nest has some activity in it.  Yup there are 4 little birds in there with hungry mouths.

Today is the last night of soccer for Grace and Max so we had to make sure we went.  They have actually learned a lot and Grace had an actual game.  I asked her if she liked soccer and she said nope!!!  Max on the other hand seems to like it.

Another good day followed by a bonfire with George and Henny and Jim and Marilyn.  Good Nite!!

George and Henny came for a Visit

One of those rainy unsettled days today.  I headed in to town to pick up my Jeep cover from Amazon.  Too bad I don't have a Jeep to put it on right now.  Although I will put it on here in Manitoba, its not really that great on a rainy day.  It will work much better in Mexico where it hardly ever rains.

We got a text from George and Henny telling us that they were headed our way this afternoon.  They arrived in late afternoon and we got together in Percy for a quick visit.  They are staying for a day or so.

Archie even enjoyed seeing George back and didn't bite at his feet like he used to.
