More Friends Arrive

Today I will erase a few more projects off my list of things to do.  Our friend Kyra needs a couple things done to help her out.  The first thing was to change the anode rod in her hot water tank. She hasn't had it done in a while, and I'm sure an RV dealer would charge lots to do it for her.  For those of you that have no idea here is where you find an anode rod.

And here is what a new anode rod looks like.

And here is what they look like after couple years normally.

All you have to do is shut off the water and take the rod out with a socket set.  Make sure the electricity and the propane is shut off first!  Out with old, let the water drain out which will carry any sediment with it.  If you have a bottle brush, stick it in there and swirl it around to loosen any sediment on the bottom.  Then put the new one in and its done!!!   Turn on the water!!

Just a note that Kyra uses RO (reverse osmosis) water most of the time in her tank and when I pulled out the rod, there was very little deterioration.  It obviously extends the life of your hot water tank.

Next project was to re mount the break away switch on her tow vehicle.  The screw that holds the switch had broken so the switch was just dangling.  It was supposed to be a 5 minute job but it took me a half hour because it is really tight quarters to work in.  But its done!!

About that time I got a call from our friends Gord and Mavis Duncan.  They are leaving Parker today and hope to spend a couple days with us here in Quartzsite on their way to Phoenix.  It will be fun to share some laughs with them.  They have a nice rig pulling an enclosed trailer with a Victory inside!!  We will get some pictures of them and their toys tomorrow.  They didn't get here till late afternoon and we left them to set up and settle in.

I loaded up our old toilet from yesterday and took it over to the dumpsters.  I put a sign on it because there is really nothing wrong with it.  If someone can use it then I'm happy to give it to them.

We had a nice chat with Gord and Mavis before calling it a night.  Just a normal sunset to the west tonight.

    1. I try not to get too descriptive in my blog about fixes, but sometimes if someone sees how simple it is, they may try it themselves and save a bunch of money.
