A Crappy Day!!!

The desert is ever changing and this is one of those times.  Cooler weather is moving in and bringing it in is the wind.  This place is so beautiful when it is sunny and warm, but can be abrasive when the wind picks up the sand and whips it in your face.  That was what happened today.  First clue was when the mountains disappeared.  Then the temperature started to drop and by supper time it was quite chilly.

Good day for an inside project I guess, so maybe time to install the new toilet.  This is Presidents Day in the USA so I first went up town to make sure the RV stores were open.  Yes they were so I knew I could get myself out of any jams I got into.

Today I decided to change out the old toilet for the new one we bought the other day.  I pulled out the old toilet and inspected the flange.  The old toilet sat a little lower and there had obviously been some leaking going on at some time which made the wood underneath less than stable.  It looks ok but I was not happy with it.  If you don't have a solid base, the toilet tends to wiggle after a while and that is not a good thing.

So I decided to do a little reinforcement of the floor for the new toilet.  Susan said she can paint it and it will look fine.  If we don't like it, I will cut out the old floor and replace it when we get home.  For now this fix will be just fine.

The new one mounted up real nice and we even turned it a bit so you have more leg room!!  The old one sat almost straight with the wall and was a bit cramped.  Didn't even have to do any adjustments to the water inlet.

A throne fit for a king!!!

Here is the dusty view out our window tonight:

  1. The wind can be abrasive for certain and the dust doesn't taste very good either. Excellent day for indoor activities.

The new throne looks excellent, fit for a Queen even. I think it's an excellent job.

    Enjoy your stay at Quartzsite.

  2. Having a solid base under a toilet takes the worry away from other jobs.

    1. We had entertained moving to Yuma because it was going to be warmer, but procrastination got us no where so here we sit.
