Spiffing up the Ponderosa

Yesterday Sue and Pat went on a shopping trip into Mesa and Phoenix and Gilbert and Tempe and Pioria, and who knows where else.  I call it all Phoenix but I guess they are separate cities.  They left about 9 am and didn't get back until around 7 pm.  They both brought lots of treasures.  Sue has been looking for a new carpet for the living room for a while now and this week a mysterious stain showed up in the middle of the old one, so it was time to replace it.  The only picture of the old one I have was from before Christmas and you will see our Buddy Heater keeping us warm.  Believe me, we don't need no Buddy Heater any more with temperatures pushing 90F.

And the new carpet with all the pretty colours, and it is much softer as well.  I do hope I'm not the first person to spill on it, but chances are it will be me.

Tucked in the back of the Jeep was another treasure that the girls picked up at Hobby Lobby!  A neat little cupboard for beside Sue's couch.  It is adorable, or at least I was told to say that!!

So the first part of the day for me involved getting the old carpet out and the new one in.  We also played around with where the cupboard would fit and I get the feeling there will be another one showing up soon for the other end of the couch.  The other project was to clean the fantastic fan above the stove.  Because we do not have a range hood above the stove, we use the fantastic fan to draw out all the cooking stuff.  It tends to get awfully greasy after a while and so today we got rid of that build up.  I didn't take pictures because it is just gross.  By the time we got all our projects finished it was time for happy hour again.

Pat and Harold were missing today
It is so interesting to sit and watch all the different colours that the mountain takes on as the sun slips away.  Not long after dusk, we begin to see the flashlights of all the hikers coming down from the top of the mountain where they had watched the sunset.  It takes them a couple hours to get to the bottom.

I still can't get over how beautiful this country is with its wild prickly landscape.  I still expect to see John Wayne riding over the ridge.

Here was the view out our front window today:

Our Location tonight:  BLM near Superstition Mountain, Apache Jnct. AZ  33.4602 - 111.5085  Boondocking.

  1. Wow, some pretty neat shopping accomplished there. I wonder if the multi coloured rug is for when you do spill something, it won't be as noticeable? Kind of blend right in!! I really like the little cupboard, that is so cute.
It sounds like a pretty full day of work for you, so tomorrow you get to take the day off right?

  2. The horrors of the Lifestyle, always something that needs to be fixed.
Sue needs to remember that it geta tight inside an RV when the slides are in.
    Be safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.
