Last Day at Romantic Escapes

WHERE ARE WE?  La Penita RV Park, La Penita, Nayarit, Mexico
NEXT DESTINATION? Towards Brownsville Texas, April 1, 2020

We had to head down to Rincon Guayabitos today to find some cream to last us for the trip.  Half and Half is something that the local Mexicans do not use so the stores only stock it while the snowbirds are around.  There are a few northerners that stay for the month of April so one store, the Mini Super Popin is one of the few stores that still stocks it.  They do advertise that they are virus friendly or I think that is what the big sign refers to!!!

We had to get some other things too so we don't starve in the next few days.  This little store was doing a bang up job of the social distancing.  They used duct tape to mark off the distance spots at the cash register and they had lots of hand sanitizer around, but none for sale.

The streets of Guayabitos were basically bare with only the odd vehicle going by.

While I was waiting outside for Sue, I wandered down the street and there was a Farmacia open so I popped in to see if they had hand sanitizer.  Yes they had just got a shipment and how many would I like.  I took 4 little ones at 45 peso's each, which is about 3 bucks a bottle CND.  At least we have some now because we could not find it anywhere before now.

About 4 o'clock, we folded up camp here at Romantic Escapes and we headed down the narrow street over to La Penita RV Park to join Brian and JoLynn on the launch pad, ready for lift off bright and early tomorrow morning.  The narrow street is about 6 or 7 blocks long and there are spots where you have to be really careful not to clip mirrors as you wind your way along.  To top that off, we now know a few people along the way and they wanted to come out and talk!!

We got all parked up on the launch pad behind Brian and JoLynn ready to fire out of here.  It wasn't long before Paul showed up as well.  He will be leaving a little before us with Don and Jose but they will head north toward Mazatlán.

Nobody was into cooking tonight so we all ordered out to Aloha Pizza.  We had lots of pizza and wings for everyone.  Joe and Vivian and Del and Leslie dropped by to wish us well from a 6 foot distance.  We will miss everyone here at the park but will look forward to seeing most of them again next year.  We wonder if this crisis will change the landscape of the park from a point of view that this may be the turning point for some of the older people who come here.  We will see next fall I guess.  Barring extra ordinary circumstances we will be back.

    1. This whole situation sucks. We will try to dodge all the bullets and stay away from the hot spots. Even old dad is washing his hands lots and using lots of sanitizer!!!
