Stocking Up on Favourites

WHERE ARE WE? Winnipeg, Manitoba

I haven't quite got back in the swing of blogging and forgot that I post a map every time we move with the MH.  Well here is the route we took on Tuesday.

We decided to spend a sort of quiet day today and just pick up some of the supplies we need to take with us.  We take lots of Cheese Whiz, Margarine, canned Salmon, and Peanut Butter because they are not available in Mexico.  We also take some Shreddies for a friend of ours!! LOL.  So we headed to Walmart for a quick shop.

The other thing I have been looking at is a cordless leaf blower.  We have 2 gas blowers at Cj's for blowing off the golf course, but some of the girls have a hard time starting them so lots of days the course goes without getting cleaned off.  This will ensure that anyone can do the job and it can be done every day.  The other use for it will be in Mexico to blow off the sidewalks and pool area.  The tradition in Mexico is to use a broom but this old man is over the manual labour so I will use this to do the dirty work for me.  I'm sure Joel will want to use it lots as well!! LOL   Here is the one I picked up.

Something that happened yesterday was kinda funny.  Karalee, Sue and myself went out for lunch after all of our appointments and the place of choice was the Applebee's on Regent Avenue.  We all met there and ordered our meals.  Karalee and Sue had a normal lunch and I ordered breakfast.  One thing I noticed was that it came with pancakes.  Normally you get toast so I thought it a bit weird.  Also there were lots of balloons everywhere so we commented that it must be someones birthday.  Nope, wrong.  I was cruising facebook this morning and this is what I saw.  1st Ihop in Canada twinned with Applebees and today was the big opening.  Kinda funny that no one said a word while we were there, not even the waitress!!!

The past while I have been thinking what could be done in our community to create a swimming area for kids in the summer after the lake goes green.  The RV park we are staying at have one, so today I spent some time checking it out.  The town of Reston MB has one as well but it is quite a bit larger than this one.  This one is about 100 feet in diameter and the owner tells me it is about 7 feet deep in the middle.  They put it in themselves using a plastic liner with a beach sand cover. It is very nice and he told us he spent under $100,000 on the complete installation.  I wonder if it would be possible for us to do one in Rivers?  Food for thought over the winter.  I know that if a government agency got involved, the cost of permits and silly specifications would make the price 10 fold probably.  That's why we can never get anything done for a reasonable price if the government is involved.

There is a huge fountain in the middle but it is shut off.

So that was our day.  Watched some TV and then off to bed.  On the move tomorrow.  Good Nite!!!
