A walk in the Desert

We started off our day with a nice walk through the desert and up on to a nice hill overlooking the area.  Today is supposed to be a gorgeous day again, and there is no sign of anything else in the future.  We are so happy we finally found some warmth.

Harold and Elaine came along too.  Charlie found a special treat along the way and he carried it all the way back to the Ponderosa with him.  It made for a lot of chewing all afternoon.

In yesterdays post I mentioned occatio cactus.  We took a nice shot of Elaine by one with Superstition Mountain behind her.  There were no flowers on this one either.

Part of the reason of our walk way up here was to visit again the grave of Neet the horse.  This was a trail horse that came through these parts on a regular basis, and they brought it up here to be buried.

Harold spent some time surveying the situation and I think he may be feeling like Moses felt when he stood on Mount Nebo a few thousand years ago to survey the land of Gilead or the Promised Land.  You can see a lot of land from the top of a mountain and this countryside doesn't look that promising.

When we were done our walk I headed in to Mesa with Pat and Harold to look at Motorhomes.  They are in the market for a 36 ft Class A, but everywhere you go they have mostly 40 foot units.  One nice unit was a Beaver Monteray.

Another unit we saw was an Alfa See Ya.  This one was unique in that it was sporting an 18000 dollar custom Monaco paint job.  This is the first Alfa I know of that has a paint job like this.  I loved it.

As everyone is aware, tonight, or should I say tomorrow morning is the eclipse of the Blue, Blood Red moon.  Tonight when it came over the mountains, it was quite big and bright.  We watched it as it rose in the sky.

I have the alarm set for 6 am to watch it for an hour.  It is scheduled for 5:45 to 7:03 tomorrow morning.

Once again everyone gathered on our deck to discuss the days events.  We did gain another couple friends today as Chuck and Angela who we met at Magnolia Beach TX, came to spend some time with us on the mountain.  They were busy setting up their site tonight so didn't join us for the picture.
