A morning of chores and generally being lazy. Sue and I walked downtown to get some things and stopped by El Polleto for lunch. She had liver and onions and I had a Burrito. It was one of the tastier burrito's I have had. It had a nice sauce with stringy cheese and the chicken had a great flavour. I will have that again.
When we got back from town, Fany and Max dropped by for a visit. They were just in time to play Flyball (Pool Volleyball) with us. We were only 3 on each side but had a blast.
A little relaxing after flyball |
After supper the card games came out and Ron and Lilly and John and Lauren played 65 at the palapa. I haven't played this game yet, but will soon I hope.
The celebrations around the Lady of Guadalupe have been ongoing for a number of days. Well it actually feels like weeks. There are lots of fireworks and cohetes, which are loud air cannons that shake you to the core. These things all get Archie all worked up, in fact they play havoc with all the dogs around and the barking and howling is crazy.
I am not complaining because this is all part of tradition and those traditions and celebrations make Mexico an awesome place. Anyway, apparently this is the last day of the actual celebrations and hopefully the noise will stop. Tonight they had a mass at the church and afterwards there were various forms of entertainment in the plaza. They had some native dancing to a drum which was very well done. Very nice costumes.
The plaza was busy |
Then they had a big band playing for a while. They love trumpets and such in Mexico.
I think the most interesting thing was the dancing horses. Although they didn't put on an actual show while I was there, the horses can not stand still for very long. They like to get their feel moving and the vaqueros (cowboys) love to let them dance. Part of having a dancing horse seems to be the ability to drinks beer. Very seldom do you see the cowboys without a beer. Most of the riders of these horses today were well to do ranchers I think. They had the best of horses and were all dressed up and just came across as important people.
Some pretty nice saddles |
And then in the background were a few more dancing horses that didn't seem to be in the elite group.
Some were of the mule persuasion |
And there were some feisty ones |
Kenia was busy with all the people around and I imagine she went on until midnight or so. She is such a trooper.
I got a kick out of this today so will share. This is our Archie for sure. He has no idea that he is actually a smaller dog, or at least one with short legs. When he meets dogs on the beach, he figures he is 10 feet tall and generally sends them packing if he doesn't like them. Good Nite!!!
Your burrito looks more like enchiladas! Maybe that's why it didn't taste like a burrito...
ReplyDeleteyou know what. i think your right. I definitely ordered burrito but that was enchilada!!
DeleteIt looks like a fabulous time!
