Christmas Day

WHERE ARE WE? La Penita, Nayarit, Mexico

Well it is time to say Merry Christmas to everyone for 2025!  Hope everyone had the opportunity to enjoy it.

Christmas in Mexico is a little different than back home for a couple reasons.  First, it is 30C and our Christmas back home is traditionally a snowy and sometimes cold day.  Second, the Mexicans don't really celebrate on the 25th.  They have a fun evening on the 24th and wait until 3 Kings day which is January 6th to have a big celebration.  Most of the businesses downtown were open today and the market was still held although there were less vendors and less customers as well.

The plaza was empty

not many people at the market

We didn't buy much before heading home again because it was getting quite hot out.  At home, Ed and John were busy brining the 3 turkeys that they are going to deep fry on December 27th.  I never mentioned before, but we are having our own turkey dinner here in the park.  Kind of a pot luck I guess with turkey added.  It should be fun.  John has really latched on to this turkey project and drove an hour and a half one way to Tepic to get the turkeys.  Then he spent a week finding the burner and a big enough pot to cook them in.  And he did a lot of research to come up with a recipe for the brine to soak them in.  It will be awesome I'm sure.

Even orange juice and peels go in the brine

We have some new guests for the next month or so.  Rick and Jill arrived and are all set up to enjoy the ocean for a while.  I hope they enjoy their stay here with all us hooligans!!

We got to Facetime with Grace and Max and then Sheri and Dani today.  It's always great to see them all.  We will try to work in a Facetime with Abby, Silas, Emma and Lincoln sometime before the New Year.  Only got one picture of the Facetiming.

Around 3 Susan and I headed over to Jeff and Fany's for a visit and supper.  We had to see all the stuff that Max got for Christmas.

lots of toys

We had an awesome supper and then spent some time on the roof terrace visiting and doing a pinata!!  Pinata's are great fun for the kids.
