We Are Getting Ready Slowly

I'm not sure how much more of this white stuff I can handle.  I have not been so cold for a long long time.  I'm sure our power bill will be massive running all these electric heaters and then using propane on top of it.  But I refuse to be cold in my own house.

I miss the beach

He misses the beach.

Of course just like it was meant to be just to add insult to injury we emptied our propane bottle and I had to go outside to put a new one on.  My hands were frozen by the time I got it changed.  

We are getting to the point where it doesn't matter if its cold we have to get the Shack in shape for opening on Friday.  Our suppliers regional manager dropped by to bring us some price sheets and discuss our needs for the season.  We are one of the biggest ice cream sellers in his region.  We buy about $2000 worth of supplies from him every week.

 

We had to do some ordering from Superstore and Pratts so the girls set to work on that.  The rest of the time was spent cleaning off the deck and getting things organized.

Got the fryer up and running.

I am excited to get the coffee maker set up again.  We got the coffee shipment today so just need the water hooked up.

Sheri invited me over for supper tonight and after supper we played some "Play Nine"  That was it for today.  Lets do it again tomorrow.  Good Nite!!!

A Story to Tell

Well I have a little story to tell today.  I haven't said much about this until now because there was not a lot to report.  The pictures are a little gross but they are part of the story.  Over the last 3 months or so I have developed a growth on my ear.  It does not hurt nor is it infected but it bleeds at the drop of a hat.  If I catch my hoodie or my pillow on it, it will start to bleed and the only way I know it is bleeding is when it starts dripping all over my shirt or pillow.  Very aggravating.  

I checked it out in Mexico with my Dr in March and he informed me that he was pretty sure that it was not cancer. He offered to personally take me to Tepic to his plastic surgeon and for a fee of 60000 pesos it will be gone.  Well that is about $4800.00 Cnd.  Not a big price when a plastic surgeon is involved.  And the big thing is that it would all happen within 3 days.  I don't know if I made the right decision but I decided to wait until I got back to Canada to have it looked at and get another opinion.  So I had a Dr appointment with my GP to start the process.  My GP had a look and agreed that it is very unlikely that it is cancerous so that is 2 Drs agreeing.  He gave it a name that is longer than the alphabet!!  My Dr said he would set up a referral to an ear surgeon in Brandon and later that afternoon I got a call confirming a surgery date of August 22.  That is over 3 months!!!  Now I am thinking maybe I should of had it dealt with in Mexico!!! Hind sight is always 20/20.  Oh well we will see what happens.

We spent the rest of the afternoon trying to stay warm and still get a few things done in the shack.  I got the propane heater going today and it kept us from shivering while doing some chores.  That was it for the day.  Good Nite!!!

Church Day

WHERE ARE WE? Rivers Provincial Park, Rivers Manitoba

We attended church this morning with Sheri, Grace, Susan and I.  It was a good service with a local substance abuse recovery center presenting some stories of how their lives were changed at this facility.  Adult and Teen Challenge has been a part of our community for quite a few years and have other facilities across Canada.  We enjoyed a pot luck lunch after the service and spent time talking with our church friends.

Sort of took it easy this afternoon because it is Sunday.  Late afternoon we were sitting in RRV and a young moose decided to walk down the road.  We don't often see moose here in the park so we were all quite excited. 

After supper we decided to play some games with Sheri and Dani.  Susan was under the weather so she stayed home and went to bed.   We played Moohla and then 65.  We had a lot of fun. 

Sheri and Dani have got quite a bit done in the Ponderosa to make it their own.

Earlier in the day there was a squirrel running on the roof and their cat thought she might check out where it was.  She managed to climb the carpet wall in the bedroom.  lol

When we were playing games we looked out the front window and saw a colourful sunset through the trees.

We jumped in the car and headed up the hill to catch the actual sunset.  The colours were intense tonight.  Good Nite!!!

Picking up Karalees Trailer

WHERE ARE WE? Rivers Provincial Park, Rivers Manitoba

We were on a mission today to pick up a trailer from where Karalee lives and bring it back to the park.  Later this month, Karalee will be coming to spend the summer with us in Rivers Provincial Park.  She will live in this trailer while she is here.  

First stop was to have lunch in Winnipeg to have lunch with her.  We went to Olive Garden for our lunch.  It was very good.

We had another hour and a bit to drive from Winnipeg to where the trailer was parked at Karalee's fathers farm.  It hasn't been moved for a few years so we hope the tires and bearing hold up for the 400 km trip home.

We stopped a few time on the way home to check things and one of the stops may have involved a Tim Hortons!!!  Of course it did!!

We stopped for some fuel for the truck and Diesel was $2.13 a liter.  We saw some for 2.40 in other places so thought it was a good deal.

So today was a 700 km day round trip.  The trailer travelled well and we had no problems.  Good Nite!!!

Testing My Carpenter Skills

Today we took a drive into Brandon to get a few things.  The girls went to places like Walmart, Reitmans, Winners and such while I stopped at Home Depot for lumber and Princess Auto for tire tubes.  

We returned home by about 3 and started work with the lumber I had bought.  We have been tasked with building a twin bed frame for the Ponderosa so Sheri has her own bed.  To buy a bed frame is probably $150 so for about $40 I built one.  We made it with longer legs so there is room for storage under it. When we get the mattress tomorrow, we will set it up in the Ponderosa.  I had lots of helpers so the job went quicker.

Archie had a good day and while I did my blogs he was zonked out in my chair.  He is certainly enjoying his freedom back at the park but it does play him out.  

Susan spent her time watching "The Testament" which is a sort of continuation of "The Handmaidens Tale".  I sort of kept my eyes on it as well while doing the blog.  That was our day today and tomorrow we are off to Woodridge via Winnipeg to get the camper.  It will be a long day so off to bed I go.  Good Nite!!!
