Church Day

WHERE ARE WE? Rivers Provincial Park, Rivers Manitoba

We attended church this morning with Sheri, Grace, Susan and I.  It was a good service with a local substance abuse recovery center presenting some stories of how their lives were changed at this facility.  Adult and Teen Challenge has been a part of our community for quite a few years and have other facilities across Canada.  We enjoyed a pot luck lunch after the service and spent time talking with our church friends.

Sort of took it easy this afternoon because it is Sunday.  Late afternoon we were sitting in RRV and a young moose decided to walk down the road.  We don't often see moose here in the park so we were all quite excited. 

After supper we decided to play some games with Sheri and Dani.  Susan was under the weather so she stayed home and went to bed.   We played Moohla and then 65.  We had a lot of fun. 

Sheri and Dani have got quite a bit done in the Ponderosa to make it their own.

Earlier in the day there was a squirrel running on the roof and their cat thought she might check out where it was.  She managed to climb the carpet wall in the bedroom.  lol

When we were playing games we looked out the front window and saw a colourful sunset through the trees.

We jumped in the car and headed up the hill to catch the actual sunset.  The colours were intense tonight.  Good Nite!!!

Picking up Karalees Trailer

WHERE ARE WE? Rivers Provincial Park, Rivers Manitoba

We were on a mission today to pick up a trailer from where Karalee lives and bring it back to the park.  Later this month, Karalee will be coming to spend the summer with us in Rivers Provincial Park.  She will live in this trailer while she is here.  

First stop was to have lunch in Winnipeg to have lunch with her.  We went to Olive Garden for our lunch.  It was very good.

We had another hour and a bit to drive from Winnipeg to where the trailer was parked at Karalee's fathers farm.  It hasn't been moved for a few years so we hope the tires and bearing hold up for the 400 km trip home.

We stopped a few time on the way home to check things and one of the stops may have involved a Tim Hortons!!!  Of course it did!!

We stopped for some fuel for the truck and Diesel was $2.13 a liter.  We saw some for 2.40 in other places so thought it was a good deal.

So today was a 700 km day round trip.  The trailer travelled well and we had no problems.  Good Nite!!!

Testing My Carpenter Skills

Today we took a drive into Brandon to get a few things.  The girls went to places like Walmart, Reitmans, Winners and such while I stopped at Home Depot for lumber and Princess Auto for tire tubes.  

We returned home by about 3 and started work with the lumber I had bought.  We have been tasked with building a twin bed frame for the Ponderosa so Sheri has her own bed.  To buy a bed frame is probably $150 so for about $40 I built one.  We made it with longer legs so there is room for storage under it. When we get the mattress tomorrow, we will set it up in the Ponderosa.  I had lots of helpers so the job went quicker.

Archie had a good day and while I did my blogs he was zonked out in my chair.  He is certainly enjoying his freedom back at the park but it does play him out.  

Susan spent her time watching "The Testament" which is a sort of continuation of "The Handmaidens Tale".  I sort of kept my eyes on it as well while doing the blog.  That was our day today and tomorrow we are off to Woodridge via Winnipeg to get the camper.  It will be a long day so off to bed I go.  Good Nite!!!

 

Lots of Work on the Golf Course

This afternoon was a little warmer so Dani and I spent the afternoon working on cleaning up the golf course.  First thing we do is give it a good mowing and then we use the leaf blower to clean everything to outside the fence where we can deal with it.  It is a lot of work but only needs to be done once a year.

I spent my time fixing all the flat tires on the equipment.  Actually there were only 3.  

And the lawn tractor got an oil and filter change.

Then came the favourite job of every RV owner.  Getting rid of the waste with the Blue Boy.  It is handy to haul it with the lawn tractor. 

Sheri and Dani came over and we had a couple games of cards.  They like to play games in the evening.

And tonight was Survivor night as well.  Survivor 50 is getting to be quite interesting.  There are lots of twists to it.  Good Nite!!!

A Music Recital

WHERE ARE WE? Rivers Provincial Park, Rivers Manitoba

More work getting things out of their winter hideaways.  I store the boats and the wood truck in the wood compound for the winter so they have to be moved so we can use the wood yard for the summer.

A squirrel has wintered in one of the wood boxes.

I loaded up a few totes of wood to take up to what will be our summer camp site.  It is at the far end of the campground and has a little creek running beside it.  Archie of course had to check out the muddy part of the creek.

We headed over to Reston tonight to check out the piano recital for Emma and Silas.  They are both getting quite good at playing.

We also brought home Nikki's truck so that we can take it to Woodridge to pick up a travel trailer to bring back to the park on Sunday.  Woodridge is just under 400 kms away.  It was nice of her to let us use it because we have no vehicles with a hitch to pull it that distance.   We had to stop at Tim Hortons on the way home to get some coffee and donuts.  They had a special promotion on cookies and were giving the proceeds to charity.  We got a couple to go.

Sunset was in the rear view mirror tonight.  Good Nite!!!

The Clean Up Continues

WHERE ARE WE? Rivers Provincial Park, Rivers Manitoba

This morning as I looked out the front window I was reminded that it was still winter outside.  The ice is still lingering on the lake but there are lots of ducks and geese back.  They do have open water along the beach so they are happy.

Today Jill and Mia started work in the shack.  They are the ones that put everything away so we made sure they were the first to be called in because they know where everything goes.  They have a lot of fun working together and there is lots of laughter.

One thing we do a couple times a year is pull out the ice cream freezers to clean up some of the spills that go over the edge.  

Mia laughed because the one freezer had a pen stuck to some sticky ice cream spill.

I found a little friend outside when I was moving some of the lattice on the deck.  Yup that is a bat and boy was he not happy.  He showed his teeth and hissed at me and it worked because I went away and left him hoping he would be gone in the morning.

We finished up watching some Sons of Anarchy.  Good Nite!!!
