Slowly Heading Northward

WHERE ARE WE? Cleburne TX

Today was a ho hum sort of day.  A bit of overcast but high humidity in the morning and afternoon.  We went to look at a couple motorhomes at Camping World today.  They had a Georgetown that we were interested in but it had been rode hard and put away wet and a Winnebago that just had a new windshield but was overpriced.  It has been my experience that Camping World overprices stuff and I have heard that as soon as the cheque clears, you don't get much satisfaction from them.  Just what I heard.  We did have a good salesman today who was not into high pressure at all.

So we packed up and headed on the next part of our journey.  Today we are heading to Cleyburne TX to spend the night and have a quick look at a couple more Motorhomes tomorrow.  Sue has a few pegged around the Dallas area to look at as well.  We travelled on I-35 for most of the afternoon travels just because we want to get where we are going.  Although the scenery is not the same as a back woods highway, it can be interesting just the same.  We went through Austin right by the city center.  Pretty awesome!!!

This is generally where the phone gps dies!!!  Which way now?

And then Sue says, "We should be on that one up there!!"

Austin City Limits

And we saw the Frank Erwin Center quite by accident.  It is a unique looking building so Sheri looked it up to see what it actually is.

It looks like a tank

And of course we are in Southern Baptist Country!!

Did I mention that Dani got hold of my phone again!!!

As we got farther north the clouds started closing in and the temperature started to drop a bit.  We are going to be in tornado alley in a couple days so we are practicing today.  They put out a watch for every storm down here I think.

We arrived safe and sound about 5 pm and Dani saw a Canes Chicken nearby so she had to have some for supper.  The rest of us had pork chops.

We got all set up in our favorite campground.  Actually there is nothing wrong with Walmart if you can get way off in the corner where it is quiet.  This one looks quite peaceful and will do the trick tonight.

So this was our trip today.  Not that far but that is ok with me.  Good Nite!!!

We are Off and Running Again

WHERE ARE WE? New Braunfels, Texas

We were up by 8 this morning to prepare the motorhome for the mechanics to do their last bit of magic.  We decided to head over to Kerrville to check out a couple motorhomes on consignment there.  They were actually quite nice, but we really want to see a Georgetown.  We have a few marked on the internet so will not be doing anything rash until we can see a couple.

We got a call after lunch that the Motorhome was ready to go so we headed back to the shop to hook up and get on the road.  We enjoyed seeing some of the countryside with the pretty flowers along the road.

An old grain elevator caught my eye as we went through a town.

A quick stop at DQ for some ice cream and home we went.

The problem was 2 fold apparently.  Ever since we got the fuel pump fixed in Florida there has been a yellow warning light on the dash occasionally.  The Cummins guy in Florida said that was just a ghost code for a faulty fuel sensor and not to worry about it.  Well 3 years later it actually indicated a faulty fuel sensor, in fact both sensors were faulty.  Then there was the fuel problem.  Apparently some black crud grows on diesel tanks over time and that was the reason the fuel pump went originally 3 years ago.  Now our mechanic thinks that because there was some gas in the bad diesel we got in Mexico, it killed and cleaned the algae that was left in the tank, and it let go from the sides of the tank giving us the black stuff in the fuel.  Some of the crud could have come from the Mexican fuel tank as well I guess. He says that gas is actually a good fuel conditioner as long as there is not too much.  Anyway, it took quite a bit of tank flushing and a couple filter changes to get all the crud out of the tank and then they had to change both sensors and we were back on the road.  Thanks to Wayne and George at South Texas Mobile RV and Truck Repair for getting us up and running again.  Nothing that $3700.00 couldn't fix.  It's not bad if you say it fast and then put it on a credit card to be dealt with at a later date!!!  LOL.  It always feels good to be on the road again after a break down.

Here was our route today.

We got all settled up at a Walmart in New Braunfels for the night.  It will be another day tomorrow!!  Good Nite!!!

Back to the Motorhome Today.

WHERE ARE WE? Lytle Texas

Well this morning the girls went to the aquarium to check out the fishies.  Susan and I didn't go so we could relax a bit.  They said it was a great exhibit so they were happy they went.

We were going to be heading back to the Motorhome and stay overnight in it.  They have a couple things to finish up tomorrow in the shop but they say it is basically fixed.  So we went to pick up Archie in the kennel he has been in for the last 4 days.  It is a very nice clean place it seems.  He was very happy to see us, especially Dani.

We had to stop to buy cookies at crumble cookies.  They have some pretty tasty cookies there!!!  I even got a taste of one of them.

There is a bigger airforce base in San Antonio so we saw lots of military aircraft around.

We decided to take Archie to a dog park for some exercise and there were a couple small dogs in the compound all by themselves.  We thought it a bit odd, but Dani being the dog lover went and discovered the male had leg problems, and the female recently had puppies.  A gentleman showed up later and said that someone had just dropped them there this morning and left.  At least at a dog park, someone will find them a home I'm sure, but it is a chicken shit way of getting rid of your dogs.  Sheri posted on the local lost dog Facebook page as well.  We had a new bag of dogfood in the Jeep so we left them some to carry them over for a day or so.  Good Luck little fellows!!

It was nice to be back in our home tonight.  Hopefully we are back on the road again tomorrow.  Everyone just sort of hung out until bedtime.

We did manage to get a nice picture this weekend.  Good Nite!!

The Rainforest Cafe

WHERE ARE WE? San Antonio, Texas

We headed out to New Braunfels to look at some Motorhomes today.  When we got there we found out that there is a law in Texas that sales of motor vehicles is not allowed on Sundays.  They do however not stop you from looking around and they say if the door is open, its open.  It is kinda nice wandering around without a salesman tailing you.  There were a few Motorhomes that were completely locked, but for the most part we could find a way into most of them.  The funny thing is that sales were allowed on all trailers and RV supplies, just not the motorized ones.

On our way home we spotted a Bucc-ee's so we decided to show the kids what it is all about.  Bucc-ee's is a Texas mainstay when it comes to a gas station.  They have great food and lots of fun stuff.  It just so happens that this is the biggest one in Texas. I counted 60 gas bowsers outside. We got some brisket and trinkets and moved on.

We had promised Dani a trip to the Rainforest Cafe so that's where we headed tonight.  On the way we took a shadow picture.

The Rainforest was well decorated with lots of jungle animals that roared and moved lots.  It is a unique restaurant and we enjoyed it a lot.

Actually this was a birthday supper for Dani.  Her birthday is actually in July but this will be an early celebration.  I hope she enjoyed it!!!  That was it for today, thanks for dropping by.  Good Nite!!!
