So we will soon be on the road again and I will start doing daily posts when we do. We are hoping to start our southward meander on or about October 7th. Why the 7th you ask?? No idea, just a date we pulled out of the air. We are setting our sites on being in La Penita on October 24th ish so that gives us a couple weeks to get there. We want to stop in Magnolia Beach for a day or two so that works back to about the 7th I think. I know some of you are scheduled travelers and I am telling you right now that you would not last following us for more than a couple days. LOL. That is why we each have our own set of wheels and can travel at our own pace.
Anyway, I have to catch everyone up on the happenings since the end of July. Most things are the same day after day, but sometimes there is something that makes for a story. Dani had some surgeries in Winnipeg this summer and she asked me to go with her to Winnipeg for a follow up. A little chance to spend some time with her is always a good thing.
She did have a plan all along that made sure that Gramps could not say no. Yup, a hot beef sandwich at Nicks Inn in Headingly will always catch my attention. She had the same and we both licked the plates clean. Burp!!!!
Our friends Jim and Marilyn have been camping lots this summer and they always have a fire going. We spend a lot of evenings sitting around the fire "chewing the fat"! We have most of the worlds problems solved already!!
And yes, that stupid Pratt's truck still comes at 6am EVERY Thursday. Sheri has been here to help me with the order every single week and that just makes it easier to get up at that time of day.
We tore down some picket fence, and Max was right there to help loading it all up in the trailer. Safety first remember!!
Our friends Wanda and Irwin's daughter Nicole got married and we got invited to the wedding. I think it had something to do with the fact that we brought the ice cream!!! Kidding. It was a fun evening and got us away from the shack for a Saturday, which is normally our busiest day of the week.
The Clack Museum is located about 5 miles from Rivers and has been there for years, but I have never been there. One Sunday they had an open house, so Sheri and I decided to attend. It is a nice museum to visit and has lots of displays.
Oh and because it was their open house, they had pie!!! Lots and lots of pies of every flavour you could thing of. I was in heaven.

Our friend Tracey paid us a visit for a couple days. She lives in BC but was getting warranty work done on her Pleasurecraft RV in Winkler so was able to spend time with us. We met her and her dog Doyle in Mexico last year and she will be there with us again this year.
I didn't even get a decent picture of her other than this one of her chillaxin with us. By the way, that is Archie on my lap in a recliner in the foreground.
And because the mosquitos were so bad, Jim and Marilyn bought a screen tent, which made the evenings more bearable.
Now RVers tend to talk about not having a sticks and bricks home, but these guys just couldn't leave the bricks behind. I'm not sure I could handle this but they seemed to love it, and it got lots of looks.
Our poor old kayaks are a little worse for wear after 6 or 7 years of use. I had to spend some time doing some plastic welding in some stress cracks, and modifying the seat system so it didn't put as much stress on the bottom. I love piddling away at these little projects when I have time.
Time for new passports!! Off to Walmart for the passport photo. My goodness they make you look like a common criminal in these photo's. Not showing them to you.
And we always make some time for just hanging out. The summer has been a weird one with rain, cool, really hot, and more rain. It has flown by so fast.
Lots of the grandkids went to a dance camp in Brandon for a week. Grace, Silas, and Emma had a fun time and on the weekend they put on a show for us. Max didn't want to do the camp so him and I went to the finale.
There were 180 kids in the camp and they put on a spectacular show after just 5 days. It was about 2 hours long and every bit of it was well done.
We have been getting awesome crowds for our music Saturday's. Aug 29 was international "Music on the Porch" day, so we had a whole afternoon and evening of music. We had 7 different entertainers and it was a lot of fun. Everyone looks forward to this event each year.
We even got a bouncy castle for the day and it was a big hit.
Our kayak rentals were a little slower this year because it seems everyone is buying their own. It is a non expensive way to get out on the water. Weekends are the busiest for the kayaks and paddleboards.
And that stupid truck still shows up every Thursday!!!! Max came to help us this morning and our favourite truck driver took a second for a picture. Notice the jacket cause its cold outside.
Max loves the dry ice in the sink!!!! That is what is packed in the boxes of ice cream.
And he got to sit in the new delivery semi!!! Max has always loved trucks.
Had a little trouble with the ebike. The little connector for the charge port broke off inside the battery and so I couldn't charge it.
I got busy and direct wired the charger into the battery and now I just carry the charger around with me. Not pretty fix but it works. We will see if I can get a new port from the factory.
And my Seadoo covers arrived from Amazon. They fit perfectly and will provide some protection for the both in the summer and in winter storage.
Max and I had to go to Strathclair to check out some housing stuff and being it was Friday, we stopped for fish and chips at the local hotel. It was sure good and Max loved it. He is so much fun to hang out with.
And Grace has spent lots of time hangin with Grams. She is growing too fast and is turning into a wonderful young lady but she still has time to be silly.
Sheri came to visit and spent the night on the Magic Bed. Thats what we call the bed that drops down in the front of RRV. She just celebrated a birthday and she doesn't seem to mind being 29!!! lol
Actually Sheri was here because this was the last Thursday the Pratts truck would be delivering to us. She made the boys eggers, as she always does and filled their coffee mugs. They spent a little extra time with us this morning discussing all sorts of things. We sure do appreciate these guys and they bring a little sunshine into our lives at this ungodly hour of the morning!! Thanks Tim and Justin!!!!
We had to scramble to have an order big enough for them to deliver it to us this morning. Yup this was what we got.
Its getting close to closing time so we invited Jim and Marilyn for a last supper. We really appreciate their friendship each summer.
We had a windup for all the employees before we actually shut down for the season. The girls organized the event and we all had a great evening. Sue and I are always humbled when they include us in their fun things. We had a great group this summer.
They are truly a crazy bunch!!!
We have had our fair share of cloudy days this summer. The ground is saturated and the farmers are beginning to worry. We hope for sunny days.
And another birthday in Mexico. Our Kenia turned 24 and is looking forward to giving us another grandchild in November. This will be an exciting life changing year for her. We know she will be a wonderful mother.
The girls were having fun getting ready for the final day here at Cj's. Kinley got right down on the floor to make up a neat sign. We love how they get involved in making Cj's an awesome place to work.
And Gail and Cindy were busy hanging the sign for the end of the season. Bitter sweet.
And that was a wrap!!!
So once the campground is closed, we have to move RRV from the seasonal site to Cj's until we leave in October. Its nice to have power so we can run heaters in case it gets cold, and we have lots of things to do to get the shack ready for winter, so we are right outside the door.
We got the yellow van moved and will fill it up with stuff for winter. I also got Karalee's trailer pulled up and got it all winterized and ready for it to travel back to the farm.
Had a little oopsy the other day with the White Jeep. Ouch!!! It made me sit up and pay attention!!!
I do get to tour around a little bit on the bike and noticed this morning that the leaves are turning quite quickly. It won't be long and they will start to fall.
A couple things I noticed. I'm not sure what government person dreams up this stuff but they have this sign that is at the trailhead of the natural prairie grass trail. It says that you need to wipe your feet before proceeding on to the trail. People walking is part of the ecosystem of the park and if they spread seeds, so be it. Natural progression I would call it. How stupid is this sign.
Well according to traditional forecasting methods of the indigenous people, it should be a long and cold winter. They always say the length and temperature of the winter is always judged by the size of the white mans wood pile. Should be a bad one!!!
Thats it for our season at the lake. All we have to do is get everything stored away and get ready to go. We will do some interesting things before we leave and I will do another mass post just before we leave to head south. Hang in there. Good Nite!!!
