We Dodged a Bullet!!

Mexico, Mexico!!!  Always something going on here but the real story is about how it gets all blown out of proportion by the newspapers of countries that can't even report accurately on happenings of their own country.  But it sells!!  And if we keep buying it, they will keep publishing it.  Did it have people on edge for a wee while down here....yup.  But it was all happening 5-7 hrs north of us, so we just carried on.  Our friend Dave Oakey cancelled one night of music in Mazatlán and stayed home and relaxed, but it was back to tinkling the ivories the next day!!!  Mazatlán is a little closer to where the action was.  Susan wanted me to post the following and say that it wasn't that bad cause we only took one bullet and it missed her!!!  jk! 

A little research on the history of Mexico will yield you lots of stories of revolutions, uprisings, protests and lots of stories of how the government and the cartel operate here.  I am no expert but I do have an opinion, and as uneducated as it is, your gonna hear it!!  I think the Mexican people have knowledge of how the hierarchy works and have learned to adapt to it.  I think every once in a while the government says to the big boys, whoa! slow down a bit, and that is probably the case here.  Someone was getting too big for their britches and they decided to take him in to read him the riot act.  My bet is that he will be out in a couple days and life will continue. Is it all right or wrong?  Its all about your opinion, but Canada and the USA demand a lot of drugs from these guys each year, so the process will never be shut down.  Greed will be the driving factor and this will cause lots of strife as big boys jockey for position.  Just stay out of the crossfire and you will be fine.

Northern News agencies declared that Mexico was on fire and the Canadian Government should demand all Canadians return home to escape the overwhelming danger to their lives.  Have you ever been to Mexico for the winter.  We aint movin!!!!  We like it here!!!  More chance of you guys freezing to death in the Great White North than me taking a bullet from anyone down here!! Lol  Good Nite

A Birthday Celebration

WHERE ARE WE? La Penita, Mexico

Another fantastic day here.  Didn't do much but am feeling better now.  Archie was bored to death today because of me being lazy.  He expects a walk on the beach every day now and it didn't happen today.

Sunset snuck up on us real fast tonight and it was just as great as ever.

We were invited to attend the Birthday celebration of Dontae and Danny.  It is always fun to be around this family.  Abuela Tina makes sure that all the kids all celebrate in style.  First thing we did was have a delicious supper.  Tina feeds everyone who shows up friend, or family!!  They made about 20 plates of supper.  This was one of the kids plates.

There were a couple piñata's left over from New Years so they got busy and destroyed them.  There is actually a lot of candy in a piñata!!!

Soon it was time for cake.  The boys got a little carried away with the icing on the face.

Well that was about it for today.  We had a lot of fun with the kids today.  We headed for home to relax and watch some tv.  Even the fishermen have called it quits for the day.   Good Nite!!!

Another Day to Recover

WHERE ARE WE? La Penita, Mexico

Still sick today although I did feel well enough for a while this morning to tackle the roof vents.  We got them out a few days ago and have got them all cleaned up so now it was time to put them back.  Just a few screws and the job was all done. 

While I was laying around feeling sorry for myself I did some research on a new top for the Jeep.  I am hoping to get one that is only big enough to cover directly over the heads of the front and back seats.  All I care about is a sun shade and if there is a little rain overnight when it is parked.  If we run into a downpour while driving, I'm prepared to pull over and wait it out.  And the price is right!!   Maybe I can get one made cheaper down here.

I saw this jeep in town with one the other day.  You can take it off in 30 seconds or put it on in a minute.  Then you can fold it up in your hand and put it under the seat until you need it again.  I guess I will sleep on it.  Good Nite!!!

A Sick Day!!

Remember back in our working days when we had things called sick days?  We we have them in retirement and they don't even dock our pay.  Well thats what I did today.  Lay in bed and feel sorry for myself.  Kenia brought me some special tea which tastes yucky but supposedly works. I drank the whole thing.  Maybe back on track again tomorrow.  Good Nite!

2023 Begins

WHERE ARE WE? La Penita, Mexico

Kenia's family sent a picture from after we left their place last night with all of the girls in the family.  What a fun bunch!! 

So New Years was all about what New Year should be.....eating!!!  We had a nice potluck supper and a bonfire tonight with all of the people in the park.  Its a great way to get to know everyone.  There were 3 tables of really good food to choose from.

Everyone enjoyed the food and the comradery.  A picture of our Guadalajara friends!!  

  It was another nice sunset but no good pictures because we were still eating..

Time to get the fire going.  We have a huge fire pit by the palapa but only use it a couple times a year.

We mentioned how there are a couple things that are mesmerizing in this world.  1. Bonfires 2.Waves on the ocean.   We had both tonight as the ocean was quite noisy.  We even had a little accordion music to set the mood.  That was our day  Good Nite!
