It was a little cooler this morning (11C) so I was rooting through my closet looking for some long pants when I came across this little thingy that the kids bought me a long time ago.  It is a fake fire with a couple marshmallows that turn in the wind and catch your eye.  Well it was in a package still and required a little put it together magic.  So I did, and everyone thought it was pretty cool.  So now we have a bonfire in the middle of our circle.

So that got the project bug going around camp.  Chuck decided today was the day to fasten down his solar panels so he got to work doing that.  This was the finished product.  

I got some new sewer vents from Amazon the other day so I set to work changing them out.  The old ones were all aged out and broken so it was time.

The new ones look pretty sweet up there all pointed into the wind.  If you look at the busted fridge vent next to them you will tell what my next project should be.

While I was up on Chucks roof I took some pictures of Harold's rig because they are considering doing solar, so I was looking at the area he had for panels.  I think he will be good with 3 panels which is what he had determined.

And of course a picture of the girls chatting in front of the the Ponderosa.  Pat, Kyra, Angie, and Sue.

Well once the projects wound down, Sue and I decided to go to town to look at a chair for her for the Ponderosa.  She likes to have a cuddle chair that rocks, swivels, and reclines!!  Pretty tall order I think.  Well look at that, there was one in the first store we went to.  It is battery operated and only needs charging every 3 months or so by plugging it into the wall.  It was super comfy and did all the things listed above.  The only drawback was the price.  The girl we were dealing with was open to working on the price and we got her down a couple hundred dollars.  But then they had 2 colours of leather and 4 colours of cloth so we went home without it to decide if it will work for us or not and to figure out what colour might work.  We don't have a lot of things in the MH so having a nice chair to sit in is important. We stopped by the grocery store and bought a couple of nice steaks for supper for under 5 bucks.   They were actually very tasty even if I was too lazy to BBQ them.   Amazing what butter can do!!

The Border is Open!!

Another gorgeous day in the desert.  We are so happy to be here enjoying the warmth.  We are one of the snowbirds that paid $2000.00 for an extra month of warmth and we have never looked back, however we are super glad for those snowbirds that had the faith to wait for the border to open.  Well it finally did and by all reports it went from fantastic and fast to great with a wait.  Our friends from home wrote this on my FB post.

And another post by another good friend of ours.   We are happy to hear that life is slowly returning to normal.  

And Dave Oakey who is the host of our "Music in the Park" at CJ's in the summer, has made it to Mazatlán where he will be performing for the Winter.    We hope to be able to catch up with him on our way to La Penita next month. 

If you are in Mazatlan and are downtown look him up.  He may be hanging around MaCaws making music with his friends.

Harold had a project on the books for today.  They have had some comments on the fact that the Jeep lights are not visible while towing because the bikes they carry on the back hide them.  He wanted to add a set of lights to the bike rack so this sort of thing doesn't happen.  It took a little doing, but between the two of us we got the job done.  

Kyra and her friend Evelyn came for coffee today and we decided to go out for supper.  I have no idea why, but I didn't even get a picture until supper time. After our nice visit, Harold and I went for a walk.  

Then we had some time to hang out in the sun and even time for a short nap.  We are waiting for Chuck and Angie to show up.  

After my nap Chuck and Angie landed in the circle.  They are looking forward to spending some time exploring Death Valley I think.  Chuck took some time to relax and Angie and Sue needed some catch up time.

We all gathered at Mom's Diner for supper.  Good old country style food.  I need some of that once in a while.  The food was good and so was the service and the company.

I loved the little sign at the till.  Our CJ's motto is "Good Food, not Fast Food!"  Sometimes us restaurateurs have to be honest. 

We had a great time and by the time we left it was quite dark.  My little marketing mind looked up and saw the sign for the restaurant was dark, which in my mind is not good marketing.  But I must admit they were busy the whole time we were there, so maybe the food speaks for itself.  But I bet a light would not do any harm.

Moving to Pahrump

Its moving day today.  We are going to find our friend Kyra over at Pahrump Nevada.  We don't have far to drive so spent some time at morning Happy Hour before pulling out.  Our trip today will be something like this.

First things first.  After 15 days at Government Wash our tanks are getting full and our water is getting low.  We have hauled one tank of water and hauled some grey water away while we were camped here.  So off we went.  Goodbye for now Government Wash!!!  One good thing about this area is that they have lots of garbage dumpsters, so the trash laying around is a lot less than some spots we stay in.

There is a little campground within the Recreation Area we are in that has water and dump facilities. It is free for us because we have a National Park Pass.  Harold and I headed over there while the girls went to town to do some wifi techy stuff at Best Buy.

The trip is about 80 miles so it won't take too long to get there.  We do have a bit of a mountain pass to go over so it will be a nice drive.  

We arrived in good time to get set up before dark.  We are on the east side of town up towards the mountains.  Here is where we are on the map.  The coordinates are 36.21344855487052, -115.9595022894835 if you want to boondock.  There is lots of room farther up the mountain road and all around us.

Like I said, we have a nice little spot here for a few days.  There are the mountains behind us and the city of Pahrump in front of us.   We are about a mile out of town.

I went for a little walk after dark and noticed that you can see the lights of Las Vegas behind the mountains.  We are about 70 miles from there so that tells you how bright the city is.

We hope to have Chuck and Ang join us tomorrow and Kyra will be by to have coffee with us in the morning.  We are here to visit with her, and also to explore Death Valley a little bit.  It should be fun.  Here is the view out our window tonight.

Here Kitty Kitty

One of those do nothing days happened at our house today.  I try my hardest, but sometimes I just can't make anything of interest happen.  One little story to share maybe.  Last night after dark I heard a lady way down on the lake front calling for her cat.  She called for quite a while so I figured her cat must have gone on the prowl.  Now remember I posted about all of the coyotes around here. We saw 8 of them the other morning wandering around. Well I'm thinking the missing cat problem didn't end well cause this morning we saw this sign on the dumpster.  I always feel sorry for the kids, cause it was probably one of them that let it out.  I hope they found it but if I was a betting man, I wouldn't put much money on it.  

I did have to head into town to get a new 3 amp fuse for the fridge.  Nothing eventful to report.  Just a picture of the park entrance on the way home.  Town is about 10 miles or so away.

And to follow up on our Jeep tour yesterday, Jeremy sent me a picture of the Jeep last winter getting its new suspension and transmission work.  It made the suspension much easier to do when they took the body off plus it looked impressive!!!

It was a bit windy this evening so we all just stayed home and did our own things.  Hope you had a great day.

Some Off Roading

Last night I said to myself, self, I need to sleep in this morning.  Well my good friend "telemarketer" gave me a ring at 7:46 to see if I was awake!!!  Good thing there was nobody on the other end cause they would have got an earful.  Lol

The project for today was simple.  Lets go for a Jeep ride.  Sue and I loaded up and headed out.  Our goal was to explore some of the countryside nearby.  Sue said I have to post this picture to make up for the candid ones of her I have posted.

There is a Gypsum Plant about 15 miles north of us and we headed toward it.  When we got almost to it there was a "wash" with a road down it.  We decided to follow it back towards where we are parked.  Well it was a 15 mile drive down the river bottom and as we went the sides got taller and taller and there were no exits.

When we came to the highway there was nowhere to go but through the big culvert.  

We are getting lots of good off roading with the Jeep down here.  We are glad we put some money into it last winter so we can use it in this beautiful country side.  Big shout out to Jeremy who put in lots of time doing all the suspension etc.  Here are some pictures of it in action for you Jeremy.  Sue didn't want to get out on the big hills to take pictures so action shots will come later.

I have to say we did get kinda lost.  We knew exactly where we were and where we wanted to be but we couldn't get there.  It took us a long time to make it back to camp.  We got home around 4 and Pat and Sue headed to Costco for supplies.  I noticed that the propane had run out so had to change bottles. When I did that the fridge would not come on again.  There were no lights or anything on the display.  I spent some time checking all the fuses I could find and finally resorted to You Tube.  

Yup there are a couple fuses hidden in the back of the fridge and sure enough a 3 amp fuse was blown.  Harold had a 7 1/2 amp fuse so I put it in and all the lights came on and the fridge fired up.  I will replace it with a 3 amp fuse tomorrow when I can get one in town.

Harold and I enjoyed a short happy hour before heading home to make our suppers.  

Our day was perfect and we hope we have more just like it.  Our time here at Lake Mead is coming to and end and we will soon be off on a new adventure.  We hope you have some adventures lined up as well.
