Meeting Some Friends from the Past

WHERE ARE WE? Lancaster, Wisconsin

Kind of a foggy start to the day today.  This country is beautiful enough but then you add a little bit of mystifying fog, it is just better.  My pictures do no justice to that beauty with the streaks and bugs on the windows.  I always say that I am not here to impress with my photographic skills, but rather to tell a story.  And my story is about the fog, not the bugs!!!

The Mississippi is growing in size and can now support some commercial traffic.  We saw a couple barges with gravel on them going down river.

And there were lots of truss bridges criss crossing the river as well as across the many tributaries that run into the Mississippi.

And lots of little white churches along the way.

We were in and out of Minnesota and Wisconsin and even Iowa today as we moved back and forth across the River.  We did wind up in Wisconsin at the end of it all.

Our main objective today was to make it to Lancaster WI to meet up with old friends.  Many will remember 6 years ago when we spent a couple weeks in Pinks shop here in Lancaster.  AJ and his crew were so helpful in getting our fuel issue figured out and even let us live in the motorhome in their shop the whole time.  Although we didn't have the key to the city, they did give us a key to their shop.  So we wanted to hook up with them again and today is the day.  We arrived later in the afternoon and got all set up in a nice grass area outside the shop.

Archie got to meet Ace, the Pinks shop dog and they had some fun.  Ace is high energy and Archie is not, so he spent a lot of time watching.  They will get along fine.

Steve was one of the mechanics that were helpful when we had the mechanical issue 6 years ago, and we have been in contact with him off and on since then so today we let him know we were coming and got him to set up meeting in the Ellenboro Saloon for supper.  This is a quaint little bar in a small town with great food.  Steve and Joy, AJ and Jocelyn, and Sue and I enjoyed a couple hours catching up over a great meal.  We love reconnecting with friends as we travel along, and AJ said its just like we never were gone.  The conversations just carried on from where we left off 6 years ago.

AJ challenged me to eat a Carolina Burger but I wisely declined and had something more moderate.  Sure glad I did as this was one BIG burger.  AJ's eyes tell you that it was delicious.

This is where our travels took us today.  Tomorrow we will spend here in Lancaster and I will tell you about it then.   Good Nite!
