Winner Winner, Chicken Dinner!

Over the last couple of months a contest has been happening at home to vote for peoples choice of the best businesses in the Brandon area.  Its an online voting process called Community Votes Brandon 2024 and is open to anyone to cast their votes for the business they like in a few different categories. 

Our business, Cj's Snack Shack was nominated in 10 different categories and we won Platinum in 7 of the 10 categories and Gold in the other 3.  We are quite pleased that our customers think that highly of Cj's and that we are well enough know in the area to be recognized in this way.  Our daughter Sheri ran Cj's on the Links and was nominated in some categories as well.  She is a new business so by being recognized with nominations is rewarding in itself.  Here is all of the overall categories we were nominated in and won either platinum 

In each category we were up against some formidable competition.  It might be boring for you but I am putting them all on here for future reference.  We are also pretty proud of it as well.  So for "Fast Food" We beat out some big ones in these categories, even McDonalds and A&W!!!

One of the categories near and dear to me personally is the live music category.  Cj's hosts "Music in the Park" every Saturday night on our deck and we have sourced some pretty good entertainment.  We have some competition out there from other venues so we are proud to win this one.

And of course, what we do best.  Burgers and Fries and Poutine. 

We got beat by a couple of really good competitors in the Ice Cream and Dessert categories.  Velvet Dip sells 10 times as much ice cream as we do, and yes it is really good too.

And Chez Angela does a great job of all things dessert with great cakes and cookies too.  So hats off to our competitors as well.

Ok, enough of the bragging.  On with the day.  First thing to do was to take all the creepy crawly things out of the pool.  There was a pretty good sized crab had fallen in but hadn't died yet.  I let him go in the sand in front of the pool and he scampered away.

Joel was in this morning and it was quite hot.  One of the things our fridge has is a cold water dispenser which is handy for refilling water bottles.  Joel demonstrated the water spigot.

Ed was busy with his battery operated air compressor filling up some pool toys.  They have a huge bird that is now floating in the pool.  

Fany and Jeff and Max came by today to spend the day with us.  We had salchicha's for lunch.  

We headed over to the pool area after lunch and Jeff and Julie were looking at the smoker that is there.  When Jeff lifted the lid, a huge spider showed itself to him.  Jeff's eyes got big and he dropped the lid.  Then they tried to find it again but it had hid away somewhere.  We know its in there now.

We started pool "Flyball" today.  We don't have a net but I put a rope across the pool with a couple of pool noodles on it.  It worked just fine.  We played a couple games and everyone had fun I think.

A little iguana decided to show himself today.  I'm not sure how fast they grow but hopefully he gets a lot bigger before something eats him.

We all had a nice little snack under the palapa later in the afternoon.  Lots of good chatter happened there.  We are all getting to know each other and we feel comfortable chatting with anyone in the park now.  We have a good bunch this year.  That was about it for our day.  Good Nite!!
