WHERE ARE WE? Shamrock, Texas
We woke up to a foggy morning today. We are waiting on the other tire for RRV and the guy told us it would be at 10:54. He tracks his shipping truck. I went over shortly after 11 and it was sitting there waiting for me so I pulled up to the door and we were on the road with a full rack of good tires.

As we headed through the south end of Kansas we saw a lot of different crops and crop residue and I got to thinking that farming here is quite different from back home. Back in April when I was heading north through this country, they were just getting ready to harvest winter wheat in June/July followed by spring wheat and Canola in July/August. Once that is done Corn is in August/September with Soybeans, Sorghum and Sunflowers harvested in September and October and throw in a little Silage Corn. By then Cotton and Milo are ready for October/November. They also have a couple rounds of haying when they can get it. It must take some organizational skills to keep everything on schedule. Our farmers back home are a little more intense in a short time frame of August to mid October to harvest the same amount of crop. The climate definitely dictates what your farming style is. Watching all this go by in my dirty windshield brought back memories of my custom harvesting days in these parts back in the late 1960's.

The only other thing we saw that was out of the ordinary was this big dinosaur up on a hill. It looked small but it was a long way off!!
We travelled in 3 states today although it only took about 40 minutes to pass through the panhandle of Oklahoma. Now we will spend a few days just crossing Texas.
This was our travels today from Scott City Kansas to Shamrock Texas.
We are in a campground tonight and it is supposed to rain all night long. I managed to catch a little ray of the sun around supper time. We will sleep well tonight. Good Nite!!!
A little foot note for my readers.
I’ve noticed many of my blog followers comment as ‘anonymous’ and while I thoroughly enjoy the idea of so many secret admirers, I thought I would share how to change your comments so it shows your name. If you wish to remain anonymous that is fine as well.
Sheri-Lyn mentioned this to me and I asked her to create a step by step guide for us to learn together:
1) Find ‘Comment As’ below the post.
2) Tap the little arrow beside ‘Anonymous’
3)Choose Google Account (if you have one) and login
OR
If you don’t have a Google account, select Name/URL and you can just enter your name. (the website is optional for our followers with their own blogs).
4) Write your comment and hit Publish!
Hello Lorne and Sue
ReplyDeleteCan you share contact info for the park in Mexico that you help manage. I have been following your blog and am considering spending time there.
Moving right along. Hopefully calm weather through Texas. Safe travels.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are back to making new adventures.
ReplyDeleteThe footnote is a smart idea.
Since my dominate arm is down, I might Copy that.
Safe Travels and Enjoy!
It's about time.
I'm happy you are back on the road as well. Changing tires on the roadside.........well, not so fun. That footnote is good info. I have to change it when reading on my phone. I also like to know WHO my readers are!
ReplyDeleteJust checkin' out Sherri-Lyn's tip and I see that it works just fine. I had no idea how to do this, or I would've commented to you years ago! I'm sad you are gone from here, but I'm happy I get to read about your life again every day, not once every six or eight weeks like when you get back home ;) Stay safe. See you next year.
