Got the Jeep all washed up and loaded up for our adventure today.
Archie knew from the time we got up that we were going somewhere that didn't include him. Ron and Lilly will be watching him for the 3 days we will be away. He was not happy with the decision at first but did come out from under the Jeep with a little coaxing. He loves hanging with Ron and Lilly but still has that dog feeling that we are leaving him but we will come back. It would be nice to know dog language so we could tell him that.
Our trip today took us a few hours down the road to Guadalajara. The route is all toll roads so it is quick and the road is good. Its kinda like cheating when we take a toll road in Mexico.
As with most toll roads, there is not much to see of any great interest so there is a lack of pictures. We arrived in Guadalajara and headed straight to our hotel. The Hacienda del Sol is a very nice hotel in Tonala and will be our base for the next 3 nights.
Then it was off exploring. Of course we had to head to the Centro Plaza and the Tonala sign.

Hands holding a heart. (Land of mud heart and hands) |
We went home for a little siesta before heading back downtown for supper. We picked a neat little restaurant on a side street.
I had a T bone steak which was very tasty. They don't do their steaks thick here but rather cut them large and thin. Everyone enjoyed their meal.
There was a parrot in a cage nearby, and Ken got it to squawking. Very pretty but noisy.
There was a dish by the entrance with what we thought was salt in it and on the edge was a scorpion. Dead of course, but we were not sure why it was there. Probably a delicacy of the restaurant.
After supper we wandered by some of the art galleries on the street. Some of the paintings are still works in progress.
We walked up a street that had a lot of statues on it on our way home. This town must have a lot of different sorts of artists in it.
We are getting a lot of walking in which makes us very tired at night. Difference between us and this guy is that we have a room to go to. I can't imagine how sore he will be when he wakes up. Good Nite!!
Sounds like a fun adventure!
ReplyDeleteThe scorpion thing? Eeek!!
