WHERE ARE WE? Totonaka RV Park, San Carlos, Mexico
NEXT DESTINATION? Los Mochis, Mexico
Today was a down day for us. Because the RV Park in La Penita doesn't open until November 1, we have to drag our heels a bit, so today was one of those days. Because darkness overtakes us at supper time, it is really hard to stay up past 9 pm. So when 7 am rolls around I am wide awake which is really really strange for me. Same with today, even though we had nowhere to go. Coffee on the deck with P & H and then a little walk on the beach. Kind of a rock or pebbly beach here but it is the ocean all the same. The water temp was gorgeous.
On the way back we noticed this electrical box on a wall by the beach. Wires just sitting there waiting for some kid to stick his fingers in there and snap crackle pop- rice crispies!!!
After some lunch we made a plan to go check out the Walmart in Guayama which is about 15 kms down the road. They have a Sams Club and Home Depot there as well. Seeing those kind of takes away the Mexican Spirit but oh well!!! Have to go check it out. They were obviously having a sale on refrigerators because there was lots of them just sitting in the isle.
The Walmart was laid out much like we are used to however all of the sale price signs are in Peso's so we spent a lot of time converting how much it cost in Canadian. We have to quit doing that and just relate the cost to Peso's but that will take time I'm sure.
Nice fresh fish all laid out on a bed of ice. They had a lot of their meats just sitting on ice.
Back home again by 4 pm just in time for a quick dip in the pool and a little happy hour before supper.
We were laughing about the lack of water pressure here. There is an outdoor shower here to use before entering the pool. We turned it on full blast and this is what came out.
Tonight is an eat in night with some relaxing afterwards. It is tough to get used to the heat and it wears a person out fast.
Kinda had to shake my head today when I found the Banyo. I wondered who it was for? Then I realized it was a transgender bathroom. So when I left I couldn't decide whether I should leave the seat up or down. Whoever you decide to identify with today would you please not smoke??? LOL
Another gorgeous sunset on the beach in front of the RV Park.
And our view today.
Nice to enjoy the local sights and stores at the large Soriannos grocery store is a fun one to check similar to a walmart with different products.
ReplyDeleteWe are loving the whole experience so far.
DeleteHow were the prices at Walmart compared to what you were seeing back home?
ReplyDeleteThats tough to say. Most things are cheaper but remember more upper class locals and tourists shop there so they keep the prices up. Meat was cheap.
DeleteYou will see a lot of interesting electrical situations in Mexico... and some interesting bathrooms as well! Download the XE app to your phone for easy foreign currency conversions.
ReplyDeleteWe use the XE app all the time, even for US conversions. We are quickly falling in love with the country and are quite tolerant to all of the differences.
DeleteHubby always has fun checking out the electrical in other countries, I guess when you work in that field it is natural. That picture of the water pressure in the shower was funny.
ReplyDeleteHe would have a hay day here then. Electrical is pretty sketchy.
DeleteOur funny Mexican experience even in our luxury resort was that t.p. was not allowed in the toilets. Took us a couple of days to get used to but they are clean and empty waste baskets every day just not good sewer systems. LOL
ReplyDeleteThe heat was extenuating in Akumal as well but we were thankful for a/c rooms and lots of choices to swim.
Yes the infrastructure is not the best in a lot of places. I think we will get used to the heat after a while. Better than the snow.
