We woke up to rain on the windshield this morning. We actually heard thunder a few times last night and the rain on the roof was quite heavy at times. We haven't experienced that for a long time and although it broke up our sleep, it was kinda nice to hear. We were on the road by about 9 this morning.
The rain is certainly helping to keep things nice and green in Texas. Texas is actually quite pretty to travel through heading from south to north.
First stop around 11 was Walmart for some supplies. Not seeing a lot of difference in prices with all the tariffs my friends are warning me about, although I haven't bought a new car yet! Even eggs are at 1.97 per dozen! And as a side note, we as Canadians have not been threatened by anyone yet!
We had a good trip today and put in over 500 kms. That will make for a short day tomorrow. We have to stop in Wichita on Tuesday morning to get my ebike fixed and Wichita is only about 300 kms away. Here was our route today on the I35. Interstates are made to get from point A to point B and that is what happened today. After this, we hope to do more back highways and meander a bit.
The Riverwind Casino in Norman Ok. has a great big parking lot in the back dedicated to RV's so that's where we are parked up for the night. We went into the casino and had supper and dropped a few dollars in the slots. What a thing to do on Easter Sunday!!! We thought about that after we came out.
There we are, way in the back.
After the sun went down, I took Archie for a wee walk. I have to admit that I had to put pants on because it was quite chilly by my standards. 7C is like freezing to my non acclimated legs!!! But as the picture proves, I did not abandon the sandals. At least I wasn't wearing socks with them. The light from 2 different lights made me look like a shaky old man, oh wait I am one of them!! Almost 71!!
We have been experimenting with our Starlink as we travel along. The other day, I disabled the motor int he Starlink and mounted it flat on the roof. I now have it in a spot where we can travel with it in a flat position and it works wonderfully. It is even partially under the ladder bar and I have a bungee over it for added security, and it still works great going down the road. When I get home, I will completely remove the motor and flat mount it on the roof so it never has to be moved. I know it looks hillbilly, but I am still experimenting with it.
This is kinda the average speed we have been getting with it which is more than fast enough for what we do!! So we watched some TV and off to bed. Good Nite!
Almost 71??? Didn't you just have a birthday? Hahaha
