This morning our friend Susan came down to the beach for a walk. She parked the John Deere Jeep across the road and headed out for her mile or so walk.
After about an hour, we received a call that she had found a rattle snake on the beach just up from where we are parked. She had phoned her husband Randy to come and kill it, but she wanted us to see it first. It was just a wee baby, but they tell me that they are really venomous at that stage. Randy came and killed it and got rid of it before it could hurt anyone.
We just hung out for the afternoon and caught up on nothing. Randy and Susan have asked us to join them for supper. Randy caught a mess of Red Fish yesterday and was cooking them up. He did them on the BBQ and they were delicious. On our way there we checked out Edgar Magnolia and found him dress up for the Halloween/Thanksgiving season. Edgar is the local mannequin that the locals dress up to fit the occasion.
We had a nice supper and then played some dominoes after.
Every once in a while we are reminded that we are in Texas and find a gun just hanging around ready for use. This one does double duty, but I bet if a skunk crossed the lawn, this bad boy would be pressed into action.
We spent some time on the patio telling some tall tails before heading home about 8 pm. Thanks for having us over!!!
