We got up this morning and as we were getting our coffee ready we heard some talking outside. Guess who showed up? Yup the BLM guy and his boss coming to check the campground and clean up the pit toilets. I think maybe they were a little excited to start out with, but when I explained why we just stopped here they seemed to understand. The guy had a key for the gate so we were able to drive up to the parking lot and turn around. Saved us a lot of backing up. Thanks guys and sorry we got your blood pressure up!!! As it turned out, this spot is for horses and ATV's anyway and they don't promote RV parking anyway.
Once we were turned around we hooked up the Jeep and off we went.
It was a nice spring morning for travelling but it wasn't long before the snow got deeper up on the Continental Divide.
We even saw a snow plow on the other side of the road!!!! We only saw one short area that had a little hard pack snow still on it, otherwise clear sailing.
We had planned on staying at a lake along the highway but with this snow and add some wind and whitecaps on the lake, we just drove right by. Sometimes the normally pretty spots are not that pretty when old man winter is still around.
One of the things we saw lots of along the way were black Angus cows. I am amazed at what a great job the industry has done of promoting this breed. I what Pat said they used to tell the kids at 4H. They would challenge them to go in a place where all the beef was hanging with the hides off and then tell me what breed they were. They all look pretty much the same. My opinion is that there is way more difference in taste of beef based on what it is fed to fatten it up. Corn/Barley/Silage. Another of my rants!!!!
We headed on into Butte Montana to do a night of Wally Docking. There are times when this is the right thing to do and this is one of those times.
The view out our window tonight:
Our Location tonight: Walmart
"Away" is a place not found on a map, but you'll know you're there when you get there. And then it happens. One day you wake up and you're in this place where everything feels right. Your heart is calm, your soul is light, your thoughts are positive and your vision is clear. Your faith is stronger than ever and you're at peace. At peace with where you've been and with what you've been through and at peace with where you are headed. A place called away.
We have spent many nights at the Butte Walmart waiting out storms ... hopefully things are better tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteThe only thing left of the storm was a little wind. We have been able to skirt most of the bad weather.
