Let's Go Fly a Kite!!

The weather is warming up more and more each day and it is nice in the afternoon even without a jacket.  Sue and I headed out to Bentley in the afternoon to pick up Donovan from school.  While there we visited the "The Kite Guys".   This is a neat store with all things kites.  They have been in the kite business for about 30 years and said that they really love it.  They are kite fanatics themselves so that makes what they do even more interesting.

Their store is in an old church which has high ceilings so it is a great place to display them.  This winter I saw some neat bird kites that just fly off of a tall pole on the back of a motor home, so have wanted to find one.  They have ordered some in, so maybe a late birthday present??? Maybe..   While in the store the song "Lets go fly a kite, up to the highest height" with Julie Andrews singing, kept running through my mind.

We also picked up a tank of water from Gord and Sheri's house for the Ponderosa.  I have used the new water bladder a few times now, and am sure happy with it.

After pumping off the water, I got the bladder all folded up and put away and it was time to head into Red Deer for some fun.  The kids have booked an escape room for us to try.  This one is a little different because it is in the dark.  The theme they picked will place us on a spaceship that will run out of oxygen if we don't manage to open the escape hatch.

Sue was checking out all the times we have to beat.  I don't think there is any danger of us setting any records.

We did manage to finish the room with only about a minute to spare.  Whew!!!!  It was a lot of fun and if you have never been in an escape room you should try it.

After the escape room, it was out for supper at Mr. Mikes in Red Deer.

Really nice steak house with great food.  I had ribs and Sue had steak.  Oh yes and Sue had a drink....A REALLY BIG DRINK!!!!

Gord kinda felt left out with his little bitty glass of ale..

It was great to spend the evening with our kids and to have some fun and good food.  Thanks for setting it all up guys.

We finished the evening up with a nice soak in the hot tub and them off to bed.  The view from our window today included their dog Libby soaking up the sun.

Our Location today:  Best Western Hotel, Lacombe Alberta, Canada

  2. I've done an Escape Room with 3 friends and this summer will do one with my 5 sisters. It will be a hoot! Glad you got out! Also glad you weren't the one singing Let's go fly a Kite, ha ha, although I've never heard you sing. :)
Now that is what I call a Girlie drink!!

  3. Sounds like a fun evening. Though we have heard of them Tom and I have never tried an Escape Room, something to put on the long list, for the future.
Reading and catching up and hoping the snow is gone especially now that you, Sue, and your family have had your "White Christmas".
    What a great kite store.
Glad you were able to get your Tim Horton fix...:)
    Stay warm and continued fun.
P.S. Tom and I wish you a Happy Belated Birthday!
