Start of New Palapa

WHERE ARE WE? Numero Uno RV Park, La Penita, Mexico

This morning a contractor showed up about 8 am to start work on a couple of palapa's.  You can't be on the beach without a couple of these.  They will take 2 days to complete the work they said.  The truck backed up with all the supplies for todays work.

Hmm where should they put them?

One will look nice here

and another one over here

They wasted no time getting to work building the wooden structure.  I don't know what kind of wood they are, but it has all been stripped of its bark.  They do use screws and nails and actually had a chain saw to cut the pole to length.

They dug a hole and put the post in the ground about 2 feet

they even had a scaffolding.

And that's it for today' work

And on the other side of the yard, Martin and Monica were washing cars and RV's.  We joined in and had the Jeep washed too.  I'm not sure why because in 2 days it will be all dirty again.

It was fun to watch Max and Maggie having a great time playing.  Maggie is Martin and Monica's daughter and her and Max spent lots of time together up at the big RV park.

In the afternoon I did a little project with Kip in his suite upstairs.  The drain pipe on the kitchen sink was old and wore out and had a hole in it so it was time for a new one.   Sewer drains are different here because the main pipe in the cement wall is metal of some sort with all the connections being a light plastic.  They don't fasten to the main sewer but rather have a friction fit with a rubber insert.  It's a really easy thing to replace.

Archie and I went for our afternoon stroll down to the estuary.  His little friend Scruffy joined us and walked with us for a while.  Archie and Scruffy are best pals.  It's cute to watch because Archie pretty much ignores Scruffy and Scruffy just wants to be best buds.

Sue is under the weather today so we just took it easy for a while this evening.  Another lovely sunset.

Notice the sun has rolled into the valley.

I did take a stroll downtown later in the evening and visited with Kenia and had a bionico for dessert.  Then home to bed.  Good Nite!!
