A New Way to Haul Water

We started out as usual with a morning Happy Hour.  Our neighbours even came to join us this morning.  They told us all about their plan for driving up the Dempster Highway all the way to the Arctic Ocean this summer.  That would be a trip of a lifetime for sure.

Now that Julie is here we have an event planner to help us keep our lives on the straight and narrow.  Today her friend Ryan is going to fly into Vegas and join us for a few days so she spent a few minutes getting us prepared for when they return from picking him up.

Susan and I have been talking about the fact that there are places we question going with the Ponderosa.  One of the options we talked about was having a 4 x4 truck with a camper on the back to enable us to get into some rugged spots to camp.  Well on my walk this morning I saw just the set up we were talking about.  It even has a quad mounted up on the back of the motorhome.

Yesterday I received my new 45 gallon bladder from Camping World so Harold and I decided to try it out.  I spread it out in the back of the Jeep and it looks like it will fit quite nicely.

We filled it up from the washroom at the old boat launch and it only took about 5 minutes to do.

When we got back Harold hooked up his spare pump and filled his water tank.  This will be a handy item to have around for those times when you don't want to move the rig to get more water.

By the time we were done with the water it was time for afternoon Happy Hour again.  We all took some time to get to know Ryan and we were all on our best behavior. (well for a few minutes at least).

Ed and Lessie bought an Indian Chief for one of their friends and have been carrying it around for a couple months and taking pictures of all the places it has been.  Ed decided to bring him out for a picture at Lake Mead.

As the sun went down we decided to have an international ladder challenge.  The USA was represented by Ed and Lessie and Canada was represented by Ryan and Julie.  In true Canadian fashion there was no winner.  Just a tie.

After the game we had a nice fire and roasted some wieners and some smores.  The neighbors came over again and we sat and looked at all the constellations and tried to name them.  It was a gorgeous night with absolutely no wind.

This was the view from our window tonight.

  1. I bought a 36 gallon water bladder after seeing one used very successfully at Quartzsite. Of course since getting it we haven't boondocked .......but it will get used soon enough. Now I just need a blueboy.

    1. Yes you need a blue boy. If you haul in, very shortly after you generally need to haul out.

  3. We have had that water bladder for almost two years now. It works great. Ours is used on a regular basis when we are back home, as we do not have water at our site and have to go 6 kms. to get it, at least twice a week. Take care.

  4. What a handy little addition. I have to say that motor home with the truck/camper/quad was quite the set up. Might be a good idea to rent one for a couple of weeks before you actually buy one. My parents had one and while times have changed the layout is still basic and you're still climbing onto the roof of your truck to get to sleep and climbing back down to go potty in the wee dark hours of the night, only to have to climb back up in that same darkness.Just a thought.

Love the Indian but I think they should feed him more often, he's looking a bit on the skinny side. ;)

I love your view, looks very peaceful and yet, entertaining. Enjoy time with the new additions.

    1. We could entertain some hardship if it is only for a few days at a time and we can get to some awesome, otherwise inaccessible spots.

I had to blink twice at your second picture! It looks like I'm in the picture! ha ha I didn't remember being there although the weather is certainly warmer there and it would have been nice! :)
