Checking out the Carnival

WHERE ARE WE? La Penita RV Park, La Penita, Nayarit, Mexico
NEXT DESTINATION? We are here for a while

Today was another easy day around here.  We did get some exciting news today which we will share with you on Monday!!  I know, I know, we can't wait either!!!! So because nothing happened until evening, I didn't take any pictures of nothing in the afternoon!  So lets just move right to the evening.  I took a walk into town to check the carnival.  This Carnival is not for tourists but rather for the local Mexicans.  Now because I am nieve, I just thought it would be a couple taco stands with a couple vendors.  Well was I surprised.  They had a stage set up that was similar to the ones they set up for rock concerts and stuff back home.  They had an awesome kiddy midway, and a whole bunch of games of chance.  Lots of lights and music going on.

And lots of throw the dart games.  One of them was throw the darts for tequila!

I watched for a bit and one guy won a bottle of tequila.  He immediately tried to find some people to help him drink it!!  He followed me for a while but I couldn't help him because I had to walk home!  Tequila tends to prevent walking!!  Hope he makes out alright.

So now I want you to be honest with me.  Did you make an assumption that the guy above was a drunk and was despicable??   Well let me tell you how media can make things seem like they are not and I caught you!!!    The guy was actually stone sober, and as nice a guy as you would want to meet.  He had a great sense of humor and was playing up his winnings.  He said he doesn't even drink tequila!!  The lid was on the bottle in the fake drinking picture.  So that is how fake media works.  My pictures were not fake but they told a story that wasn't quite true.  One needs to know the situation surrounding the pictures before making a rash decision.

There were lots of other games as well.   A popular one was the break a beer bottle.  You paid and got 3 rocks to throw at glass beer bottles on a rack.  Behind them was some tin sheets which made the most awful racket when hit with a rock.  If you broke a bottle, you got a free beer!!  It seemed that about 1 in 3 people were winning so it was popular.

I tried one where a guy mixed up some 6 sided blocks and matched them against the tiles on the table.  If you had your money on a matching tile you won 3 times your bet.  Of course I lost!!!

Checked out a few other games around the square.

The main stage was just getting going when I headed for home.  I will leave the dancing up to the Mexicans, and oh how they love to dance!!
