Market Day

Thursday is market day in La Penita and it is like some sort of a reverenced day for the white hairs of the park.  Absolutely nothing happens in the park and even the restaurant is closed for the day.  Now market is only from 10 - 2 and most people only go for an hour or so but I guess everyone is so played out from it that they need to take the rest of the day off.   So there is no reason to hang around the park so off to town and the market I went!!

Now there is absolutely nothing that I need at the market but it is always fun to just poke around and people watch.  All that walking makes one hungry so I had to stop for lunch.  There is a place there that sells the most awesome sausage and we buy them sometimes to BBQ.  On market day they have a grill right there and sell them in a bun with lots of onions.  Mmmmm good.  I just HAD to have one!!!  I took mine and went and sat in the park and ate it while watching all the people frantically trying to get their Mexican blankets and pottery and jewelry for the best price they can.

On the side street there is a new building going up.  It is so interesting to watch their construction methods.  They work very steady, but there is certainly nothing automated about it.  Most of their needs are hoisted from the ground to the top floor by a rope and pulley system with a guy pulling it on the ground.  These guys were hoisting pails of gravel all the way to the seventh floor.  They were singing and hollering up and down to the workers all the time.  No one was complaining about the heat or the working conditions or who had to do what or anything.  They just all worked together and one day, not anytime soon, they will get the job done!!  Manana!!!

The nice thing about going to town is that you can walk on the beach there and back.  I never get tired of the beach and have learned to recognize a lot of the oceans moods.  Today the ocean was angry for some reason and the waves were crashing, challenging anyone who dared to come out and conquer them.  Some of the best surf board rides happen on a day when the ocean is angry.  Hope you got to make something good out of your day!!
