Well we have completed our southward travels for this year. We arrived in Numero UNO RV Park about 4:30 which is a little later than we anticipated. The reason for the lateness was a flat tire in Xalisco, which is just outside Tepic. We had heard something funny a bit earlier but there was no ongoing noise. We had a guy pointing at us at a stop light and then at the back tires so we knew something was up. We were in "Skinny Town" which is a part of Tepic that is about the same width as the motorhome with people and cars all around so we kept going. The speed is slow anyway and finally we found a place to pull over.
We were right beside a place that fixes backpack sprayers and the guys were sitting around playing cards, but when I stuck my nose in and said numatico, one guy jumped right up and came outside to see. He just nodded and got on the phone and soon showed me a number on his phone. 3200 pesos ($248.50 CND) That is price of a new one installed and the guy can be here in 20 minutes is what I got from the conversation. Yup I says, and the guy went back to playing cards. About 20 minutes later a truck showed up blowing its horn and he had our tire in the back. He jumped right out and went to work.
It took him about an hour because he had some problems with a gizmo I have on the tires that allows you to fill both at the same time so they are equal. I finally told him to take it off and just go to the single valve stems. Sometimes these gizmo's are more trouble than they are worth.
Once we figured out that problem, we got air in the tires and we were off down the windiest, narrowest part of our journey. You need both hands on the wheel and on some parts when you pass a truck you have to hold your breath and suck in your tummy and wait to see if you hear your mirrors tick.
But we made it and now we can relax for a few months.
Here is the map of our travels today.
We fall into a bit of a routine I'm sure and one of the routines is spending time with our Mexican daughter Kenia. I headed down the beach to downtown to go spend some time with her.
It was good to see her again, but she was busy with her cafecito.
Here is the picture out of our front window. We have changed sites this year and are up near the ocean. Pretty sweet huh?? Good Nite!!
Yeah....we have experienced people pointing at the motorhome. Never fun. Glad you found someone to help.
ReplyDeleteGlad it worked out. Nice spot. Relax now!
ReplyDeleteGlad you made it. Great that the guy knew a guy for the tire. Beautiful site for the winter.
ReplyDeleteWhat a view! I’m sure folks will like it much better than the WALL, lol.
ReplyDeleteGlad the tire thing was quick, almost painless and no damage. Enjoy.

ReplyDeleteTry again ... the tread looks good on 6-7 year old tires, but it's the sidewalls that break down. Big screws that jump up and bite you don't help one bit. Glad you are safe and sound. VERY nice view you have.
