WHERE ARE WE? La Penita RV Park, La Penita, Nayarit, Mexico
NEXT DESTINATION? We are here for a while
Tuesday was our last Spanish class until after Christmas. We had a nice little group and our teacher was great. Ivan was very fluent in Spanish and English, but today he spoke mainly Spanish to us. It is amazing what we have learned already because although we can't really form the sentences correctly, we can understand enough words that he could communicate with us using only the Spanish we have learned. We still have a long way to go though!! By the way todays blog title is "fish and chips".
Carlos and his crew were busy cutting down some of the trees that are hindering the sun from shining on the pool solar heater. At home you would hear the roar of a chainsaw, but here you hear the chopping of the machete!! They can cut down huge trees with those things. Most of the vegetation around here is soft and cuts well with the big knives. This will help get that pool up to temperature we hope.
Here is a picture of the reason the trees need to be cut. The main solar panel is where the shade is and if I look at what is shading it, it is that big leaf tree. Apparently these plants grow like mad here in the jungle so it is not sad that it is being cut down. It will be back like this in a couple years.
Steve got the opportunity to go fishing with some guys from the park today. Barry who was a career commercial fisherman, took him out today and they caught 3 Dorato's. They were good size and there was lots of fillets so he and Julie were good enough to suggest fish and chips at our house!! Guess what our answer was? Yup, out came the deep fryers and fish and chips it was. You can not compare fresh battered fish to anything in a bag can you? We got our tummies full and played a little LCR for pesos. Harold won most of the cash tonight so we will be gunning for him next time.
Thanks Steve and Julie for sharing your catch!!
I guess Jose was a little put out that he didn't get in on the fish fry so he decided to catch his own!!!Another great day in our world! Hope yours went as well!
"Away" is a place not found on a map, but you'll know you're there when you get there. And then it happens. One day you wake up and you're in this place where everything feels right. Your heart is calm, your soul is light, your thoughts are positive and your vision is clear. Your faith is stronger than ever and you're at peace. At peace with where you've been and with what you've been through and at peace with where you are headed. A place called away.
Yep, Susan was right! When we first met you, she told me that you were an expert at taking pictures of people with mouths full, inbetween blinks and just plain old strange expressions on faces! Well done, Lorne, I've seen my face in all those poses!! Keep up the good work, my friend! Lololol
ReplyDeleteThe secret is not to look at anyones face, just snap the picture. Like I always say to Harold "its for the blog" lol
DeleteYou cannot beat fish and chips that fresh!
ReplyDeleteBut you can't beat UK fish and chips in a brown paper bag!!! Its been years since I had that.
DeleteIt doesn't surprise me that there are so few people at your Spanish class. Disappointing, but not surprising.
ReplyDeleteGood for you guys for trying to learn some of the lingo. The experience of traveling to a different country is enhanced when you at least make an effort to be understood.
And the locals will jump right in to help you if they think you are trying. We love to try to communicate. Susan loves to do the Duolingo Spanish online as well. She is getting good at it. I just kinda slaughter the language!! But I get by.
