Today Silas had an interesting morning. Normand is an avid fisherman and has tied his own flies for 25 years. He enjoys doing it and even more he enjoys sharing his passion with others. So today Silas and I spent a while seeing how he ties a fly. It is a very intricate process and involves a steady hand and some precise processes.
Normand explained to Silas how the whole river ecosystem works and why he would use different flies at different times. The Wooly Bugger replicates a leech when it is wet.
Its called a Wooly Bugger |
Silas got to keep the fly |
About the time we got done swimming a guy came along and climbed up the palm tree above the pool to cut off the coconuts. He only had a rope around his waist and used his bare feet to shinny up the tree.
These guys do this all the time and their pay is in selling the coconuts. So I went over and offered him 20 pesos for the coconut. I know this is higher than normal but I enjoyed the show as well. The reason to buy the coconut was because Silas really wanted to try coconut milk. Well he wasn't really impressed!! Nor was Emma!!
And again tonight, Normand and Suzanne are the star photo subjects. Good Nite!!
But I think Abby and I are a close second.
Good Nite!!!
Silas looks very pleased!
ReplyDeleteGood times. What is the water temp? 80? 😅🤣
Ps, the song comes into my head, of course, "I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts!"
DeleteIt looks like a grand time is being had by all. You and Abby both look like a pair full of mischief! Keep having fun!
