A Trip to the Pineapple Fields

WHERE ARE WE? Numero UNO RV Park, La Penita, Nayarit, Mexico

Today the girls headed down to Guayabitos to the market.  Irwin and I drove them down there and dropped them off with the instruction to find their own way home.  We had plans for the guys today.  Irwin, John, Ken and I headed out in the Jeep to check on the local agriculture happenings.  The main thing to the south from here is pineapple.  I still don't know the whole process for growing a pineapple but it is super labour intensive.

A little farther down the road we came across some cattle.  John is into cattle back home so he was checking out these guys.  These ones were not in bad shape at all.

We drove some back roads over by the toll road and there was a road that was paved and had cement ditches.  It was only a single lane and was really steep as it wound up the mountain.  When we got to the top, there was a big cement cistern in the middle of the road.  There was no turn around spot or a gate anywhere to go into.  It was weird and we wondered why such an elaborate road to a water tank.  One of the wonders of Mexico.  We had a good view of the toll road and town below us.

Not much room to turn around.

The picture does not really show how steep the road was on the way down.

We drove over the turtle bridge at El Monteon.  There were lots of turtles there today.

We spent a little time tonight trying to find some flights for us in March.  We both need to go back to Manitoba but at different times so we actually need 4 different flights.  Its tough to make it all work without spending a fortune on flights.  We will keep watching.

I headed downtown after supper to get a smoothie and see Kenia.  Katherine was there too.  She is such a sweetheart.  She jabbered away to me in Spanish and I actually did understand a bit of it.

Oscar was making waffles and Kenia was making frappes and smoothies tonight.  It is nice to see him digging in and helping.

Kenia had to slip away and give her friend a ride home.  Yes you are right, they don't have any helmets on.

Another good day here ended with a sunset again.  Good Nite!!

I'm going to go with you one night after supper to Kenia's. Problem is I'm usually to full for her delicious treats!!
You guys were crazy going up the steep road to just turn around and come down!
But I think the guys had a good time checking out the crops!!
