Exploring the Fishing Marina

WHERE ARE WE? La Penita, Mexico

As usual the first part of the morning was spent at the palapa enjoying some coffee and watching people go by.  We got to see a whale perform but only for a couple minutes.  Only got a quick picture.

Today I took a walk to the south side of La Penita where the fishermen's marina is.   This is where the bulk of the fishermen come with their catches and it is sometimes quite busy.  It was just after noon and I did get to see a couple of catches come in.

One of the boats was an oyster diving boat as you can see by the old air compressor in the front.  It supplies air to the divers while they are harvesting the oysters.  The oysters were in bags and transferred directly to a waiting truck.

They also had a hold full of fish.  They filled 5 large totes with fish for the market.  Those also went directly into a truck bound for the local fish market.

The tide was going down and some of the boats were already sitting on the bottom of the marina.  It is interesting just to watch how it all works here in Mexico.

I spent some time in the pool this afternoon and then about 7 pm I headed downtown for supper.  Remember Sue is still in Manitoba, so I am fending for myself.  When I went across the stinky bridge I had to stop and take in the view out to the ocean.  There is always a nice breeze blowing in from the sea.

I had a great supper at a nice restaurant called El Pollito.  They do an amazing fajita bowl and there is enough left over for supper tomorrow night.

I am really starting to notice the sun set moving along the hills to the south more every day.  It will soon be at the top of the hill and start its roll down the hill.  We know that it is time to start heading north when the sun sets way out in the ocean.  Here is what a sunset would look like from prison.  lol  Good Nite!
