Hang on Tight!

WHERE ARE WE? La Penita, Mexico

Last night was the first night of Carnival for Kenia and El Cafecito.  She is in a new spot and has to use an extension cord to supply power from the plug I put in, to her Cafe.  Well she uses lots of hot things so a 100 ft. 16 gauge extension cord could not handle the load and got hot and burned the wire.  So Kenia went down town and bought a new cord with 12 gauge wire and she is all set now.  I took some time to repair the old cord which is handy for other tasks.

Quietly waiting

The carnival looks quite interesting with lots of neat rides.  I think we will have to check it out at some point.

I wonder about the engineering!!

This big stage means loud music!!

I stopped and picked up our laundry on the way home.  Goodness it smells good when you take it out of the bag.

So a plan had been put in place to head downtown for supper and then to hang out at the carnival for a while.  We headed down the beach and were just in time for sunset over La Penita!!  Get it?  Sunset over La Penita!!!  LOL

They had a special photo op for the Carnival.  The carnival is to celebrate what is known as Mardi Gras in the rest of the world.  Karl and Suzie posed for the picture.

Our friends Lena, and Karl and Suzie joined us and we headed to Las Brisas for supper.  Because we walked so slow, we were too late for sunset pictures at the restaurant.

After supper we kept heading on down to the plaza to take in the carnival.  Lots to see and do there but we will save some of the games and stuff for when the Oscar and some of the other kids are along.

We stopped at the Ferris Wheel to check it our.  Like I said before, I wonder how thorough the safety checks are.  This one goes way faster than any of the ones back home.

While we were watching, Lena says "Come on Lorne, we can do this!"  Well now just so I don't look like a wimp, what could I say?  Next thing I know we are all strapped in, No wait a minute, there were no straps and the latch on the front was sort of sketchy, but away we went!!

She says do you mind if I rock it? NO DON'T ROCK IT I says!!! So she began to rock it and it was actually a wee bit of fun.  I had a blast riding it, truth be known.  It was neat looking down on the people below.

When we got off our other neighbours Derek and Kate were there with their kids Benny and Onika.  The kids were in awe of all the stuff going on around them.  They were not quite ready for the rides yet but it would only take one, and they would be hooked.

Time for a Frappe and a smoothie from Kenia's.  Yummy as usual.  It was not that busy for her when we were there so we had time for a little visit.

When we got home we were all sweated up so we decided to go for a midnight swim.  Well La Penita Midnight swim like at 9 pm. lol.  It was quite refreshing and we stayed there for quite a while chatting with everyone.  I was the first one to wander off to bed.  Good Nite!!
