For 4 years now we have been coming to La Penita and staying in Numero Una RV and Suites Park. The Co owners of the Park Suzanne and Robert have another property about an hour north of La Penita at Los Cocos near San Blas. For 4 years we have discussed visiting them at their place there but due to various things, we have never made it. Well today was the day to fulfill that wish. Robert is celebrating a birthday and we have been invited to join them for the celebration. We left about 10:30 and Jackie who is manager of our park, joined us for the Jeep ride. Nice drive with lots of potholes and cute towns all along the way.
We stopped in a little town called Platantos for lunch. I have drove by it a few times but had no idea it was right on the ocean at the bottom of a steep hill.
We chose a restaurant called El Marinera and we chose to share the Pescado Sarandeado.
A guy pulled a fish from the freezer and proceeded to clean it before putting it on the wood fire. What a great way to cook a fish. It tasted yummy and was just right for the 3 of us.
While I was waiting for lunch, I took a little walk and ran into this fisherman selling fish out of the trunk of his car. I asked him what kind and he grinned and said in good English, "Bull fish and Horse fish!" Toro or Caballo. Sound like wonderful fish.
After that great lunch we continued on to Los Cocos and arrived just after noon. They have 4 wonderful rooms that they rent out to vacationers and for 2 days they were empty so we moved into Room 1. After a relaxing afternoon, we all took our chairs down to the beach for the sunset.
There is a restaurant next door and we went there for a late supper. It was delicious and we got a chance to get to know Suzanne's son Alan and his girlfriend Thea. We had a great evening chatting and getting to know each other a little better.
They had some really neat looking Pina Colada's and they tasted good as well.
While we were having supper, the moon appeared into our view and we thought it was weird. We have never really noticed before but the crescent of the moon is on the very bottom. After a little research it seems that this is known as a wet moon because it would hold water, but some call it a dry moon, because it holds water and none drips out!! Who knows. Anyway I got a picture through some palm fronds!!
How wonderful!! I just recently heard about a smaller RV park in that area. Is this the same one and also has rooms or is it just a little hotel?
ReplyDeleteAlways wonderful to explore somewhere new, just what you have been wanting to do!!
