A Great Lighthouse Tour

WHERE ARE WE? Opher Wayside Park Oregon

We woke up late this morning and I walked over to the little store to buy a ticket to go up inside the lighthouse.  There was no one here like there was at the last lighthouse so there was no waiting.  $8 got me a lighthouse tour and a museum tour.  Good deal!!! Sold!!!  The guide was right outside and another couple showed up at the same time, so away we went on the tour.  The lighthouse is very pretty.

The inside was just a building but when we went up the stairs it was all foreign to me.  This lighthouse is 150 years old and the light has been continuously shining for that long.  The lighthouse is showing signs of fatigue and the guide told us it wont be long and it will be decommissioned and abandoned.  Cracks in the steel beams in the walls were bad looking.

They allowed us to only peek in the light room from the third step on the ladder.  What a work of art those prisms are.  Imported from Paris many years ago at a cost of about 12000 each.

Looking out the window, there was our Motorhome.  Pretty handy huh?

After the lighthouse I went over to the museum.  It was in the dorm building for the Coast Guard in the past.

When I got done I took Archie for a run in the sand.  He loves to run free and kick up a dust.

Well that was fun but all good things come to an end so it was time to move on down the coast.  More trees and ocean and rocks today.  Here's where we went today.

We found an awesome spot by the ocean with a big wide sand beach in front.  Archie loved it and ran and ran.

The cloud kinda went away this afternoon and the sun shone.  It is like life starts again!!!  I could not spend a winter in that kind of gloom.  Anyway we were treated to an awesome sunset.  We will sleep good tonight.  Good Nite!!
