We got up this morning after a good sleep. No knock on door at 2 am!! Actually I took Archie for a walk and one of the people in charge was driving around in a golf cart by our MH so I thought, "here we go". She pulled up beside me and admired Archie. She had a treat in her pocket and made immediate friends. She asked me about our trip and then told me about the dog park they had recently opened here and invited me to visit it. Guess they are not concerned about the fee at this time of year.
So we had a special stop to make this morning. Way back in 2013 when we started talking about doing some travelling when we retired, I found a chat site on the internet that had a bunch of people on it who were either full time RVers or dedicated snowbirds. The discussion was always about what they were doing on the road and they also supplied lots of information to help us figure out what we wanted to do. One of the chattered was a great lady named Phyllis. She and her husband had a motorhome and travelled lots, and then would head to Yuma where they had a place to park for the winter. When we hit the road in 2015 our travels to us to Yuma and we met with 3 of the people from the chat room for lunch. Kyra, Lessie and her husband Ed, and Phyllis and Bob!!! It was so great to meet them all and all of them have remained friends to this day. We were so fortunate that they gave us all good information which made our transition to full time RVers possible. We have spent a lot of time with Kyra and Ed and Lessie, but not much time with Phyllis. Her husband Bob suffered medical problems shortly after that meeting, and passed away a few years ago. On top of that, Phyllis suffered a stroke in 2020 so her RV travelling days have been taken from her. Today we got to see Phyllis again and spent a couple hours visiting with her in her lovely home. She still has the sparkle in her eye and a zest for life and we enjoyed our time with her. We will keep in contact with her when we can and she promised to keep living the RV life through us. Here's to you Phyllis!!! We hope you will enjoy following us along!!
Our second goal for today was to see the Pacific Ocean again. We travelled west to Aberdeen through Tacoma. It was a nice drive once we got rid of the crazy traffic. Why are there cars 4 lanes wide on every highway going like a mad man when it is 1 pm on a Wednesday? And almost all of the cars had 1 person in them. We do need to do a better job of public transportation in these big centers. Forget the electric vehicles, just cut the number of cars by 50%!!! Ok no more rant.
Here was our drive to the ocean in pictures.
Lots of pumpkins in the fields |
No idea what these are |
When we arrived at the ocean there was no disappointment. The waves were rolling and the sound was incredible. We will be traveling alongside it for quite a few days.
We got all parked up and took Archie for a walk. When we got to the beach he went crazy. He remembered the ocean from La Penita, and he just ran as hard as he could. The look in his eyes was amazing. He is obviously a beach dog. I didn't run as fast as him but was happy to be here as well!!!
Here's where our travels took us today. Now its time for bed. Good Nite!
Archie does look happy on the beach ! Safe travels for the 3 of you.
ReplyDeleteSo happy to see you. Hopefully it will happen again in the future

ReplyDeleteOceanside camping, bonus!
We were there on August last year, but it wasn’t nice like I see on your picture. To many foggy days and too cold for me (11/13 ) . We are very proud to follow you on your trip back to La Penita, be safe and take care of you.
