A Visit to Costco

WHERE ARE WE? Evergreen State Fair Grounds, Monroe, WA

We had an awesome sleep last night with a gentle rain pitter pattering on the roof.  Something about a rain that makes one sleep.  The noise drowns out all the otherwise startling noises like cars going by, train horns and lots of things.   Archie and I took a nice walk before we headed out.  We are gonna head for the Seattle area today.

Highway 20 has been an awesome drive.  It started with some pretty serious mountain driving with elevations 6000+ feet and now we are almost at sea level.  I love doing the mountain driving as long as the weather is good but have done some in the winter earlier in my life that was not so enjoyable.  The rest of our drive today will mainly follow the river at lower levels.  Still beautiful.

Our travels today take us into our friend Kyra's territory.  Kyra (the Queen of Boondocking)  lived near Kirkland for a lot of years.  

Kirkland you say???  Rings a Bell???  Yup the famous Kirkland brand that you find at Costco!!!  This is where it all began was in this country.  So to celebrate being here we went to........COSTCO!!!!

We were driving down the highway and saw this sign.  Do you really have to tell people to wear a seatbelt both in the day and at night?  Really?  There is a story behind this apparently.  Supposedly they used to only demand seatbelts at night and then it changed.  On their signs it used to only say the fine amount for not wearing a seatbelt but that amount kept changing so they just put a sticker over the fine reminding everyone to wear them day and night!!!  Things like this make the world an interesting place to be in, and I sometimes just shake my head in wonderment!!

Well Kyra told us about the State Fair Grounds in Munroe as a place to spend the night so thats where we headed.   We got parked up in the parking lot and then found out that there are 5 campgrounds in the fairgrounds and all charge $35 a night!!! Woops!  Oh well lets plead ignorant.  I got to watch some race cars for a little while before dark.  Admission?  $0  LoL.  

We will see if we get the magic 2 am knock on the door!!
