WHERE ARE WE? Magnolia Beach, Texas for a couple weeks
NEXT DESTINATION? Kickapoo Casino, North Falcon Heights, Texas
Woke up this morning to the sound of gentle waves breaking on the sand. There is no better sound to sleep to in the whole world. We normally get up around 8:30 or 9 and grump around until our first cup of coffee kicks in, but today we were up by 7:30 and raring to go. Charlie was whining and running back and forth to the bed and when we looked out the door we could see why. His friend Jerry was sitting outside again. So out he went to get his morning nuzzle.
We have got our own little courtyard here. P & H are beside us and Deb and Jerry pulled in behind us. I works to block the wind a bit as long as it is blowing from the south.
Looking the other way you can see all our chairs set up so we can look out over the water.
The weather was perfect and the beach was ours to conquer. The whole beach here is about a mile long so lots of room to walk
.
Looking down the beach the other way and what did I see? It is our friend Sue who lives here in Magnolia Beach and she is walking her dog Champ down the beach like she has done for a long time. Hugs all around and some quick catching up and then off she went. Because the girls had gone shopping and were not here, she said she would drop by later. Great to see them. Sue and Randy did drop in later in the John Deere Jeep and we had a nice visit. Pics of them another day.
One of the things I enjoy here is watching the ships and barges coming and going in the channel. Shipping is a bit slow right now but we did see a couple.
We all decided that we should go down to the Marina for supper. Friday night is steak night for $9.99. They also have great fish. There is a band playing tonight as well. So off we went and got a table on the deck. It is a big area with picnic tables and lots of room to fish as well. You can pay 5 bucks and fish right off the railing. The deck is almost level with the water. Very unique.
The band fired up around 7 and they played lots of good old Rock and Roll. It was fairly loud as well. More of a party band than a supper band but we loved it anyway. They introduced themselves as what we thought was the ku klux klan!! Sue and I looked at each other in bewilderment. Then we realized that was not what they said but rather the Blue Tux Band!!! Whew thats better!!
We had a great supper and once again here is the after supper picture!!
Here was the view out our window today. It never gets old.
I like your setup there with the courtyard. Enjoy the beach!
ReplyDeleteHope you get some beach time too.
DeleteI can't decide if it is more relaxing falling asleep to the lapping of water or wind whispering through the pines. Either way you cannot go wrong!
ReplyDeleteYou are so right.
DeleteWhat a wonderful time!!! Lots of fun, I can see it on the faces!!! Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteWe don't do it unless it is fun!!!
DeleteI am envious of your beach, Lorne. So stop teasing! haha
ReplyDeleteI laughed at the picture under the patio of the person sitting in the front corner. Hmm, he/she doesn't look too happy to be there. LOL I'd be grinning from ear to ear at you!!
