NEXT DESTINATION? We are here for a while
Lots of action in the park today with all the preparations for Christmas. Part of Christmas day is a huge Christmas turkey dinner and our friend and decorator extraordinaire has done a wonderful job of getting everyone organized to carry out this huge task.
I caught our other friend Josie taking selfies with one of the umbrella's. I just have to post it because she was posing so well!!
I bet this area will be some pretty on Christmas day.
We had to make a trip downtown to get some stuff today and stopped for gas at a Pemex. Pemex are the government gas stations down here and are everywhere. I took a couple pictures to show the price of fuel.
Most of the gas attendants are girls and they jump to the pump for you. I would doubt they are going to scam anyone but they always show you that the pump is zeroed.
And most Pemex stations have Oxxo convenience stores as well. Not a lot different than at home!
On the way home we witnessed a juggling act at a red light. You gotta love the unique forms of employment of the people down here. Anything to make a buck.
One of the ladies in the park gave Charlie some Christmas socks to wear. He looked pretty handsome today and seemed to like showing them off.
When we got home from downtown we had to eat a nice big sweet bun. It had tasty stuff drizzled all over it. We were actually supposed to save it for Christmas morning but Oh Well!!!
Being Christmas Eve, the people who live on the Street of Dreams plan an Happy "appy" Hour. We didn't know how many people would be there. Well there was a lot there. We all had a good visit and some pretty tasty treats.
Julie caught me photo bombing her group picture. Because she took this picture of me I took the liberty of stealing a bunch of her pictures off of Facebook. She has since posted a lot more photos but I don't have the power to download them all.
And Steve showed off his Santa Beer Hat.
So I am going to post some pictures of people we know and try to get all the names right. Well maybe my goal will be some of them right. Don't kill me if I get your name wrong, just gently remind me what your name is.

After the Appy Happy Hour we all went down to the Oficino to sing Christmas Carols. There are lots of Mexicans staying in the park for Christmas so the tradition is for the Gringo's to sing a Christmas Carol and then the Mexicans sing one in Spanish. After a few songs we all sang Feliz Navidad and called it quits. It was fun to all get together for this great occasion.
After the Carol sing they got out the piñata's. It is quite an interesting process and they involve all the kids they can. They use a large wooden stick and it could get quite dangerous because when they start to break the piñata all the kids rush in to grab the candy and the person is still swinging the big stick. Had to shut my eyes a couple times.
|This little guy was only about 1 1/2 years old|
|Even Kenia had a turn at it but they kept lifting it out of her reach!!!|
And the Stockings were hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that Saint Nicholas soon would be there!!!! Hope everyone was good this year and they get everything that they want for Christmas!!! Have a great Christmas!!
Looks like you're enjoying your first Christmas in Mexico!ReplyDelete
That sure is a big happy hour circle!
This is a very social park. Everyone knows everyone!!Delete

I love Charlie's new socks! Sound like a fun way to spend Christmas eve :-)ReplyDelete
Charlie has a lot of fans down here. The socks were given to him by a friend.Delete
Charlie's socks are so cute and he is so proud of them!ReplyDelete
Merry Christmas, Lorne and Sue! All the best in 2020 as well.
In my humble opinion, the only name you REALLY need to remember is Sue's. After that, at our age, it is a free for all!
You are right, except I even forget her name a couple times!!!!ReplyDelete
Merry Christmas to you and Sue!ReplyDelete
Sounds like you are really having such a wonderful time.
Personally, I think everyone just needs to wear name tags or accept there will be times the name they are called may be wrong...lol
Name tags are forbidden in La Penita RV Park. You just have to find a way to remember, and you do after a while!!Delete
Sounds like a fantastic time was had by all. I am certain you all had a super good time. Love Charlie's socks. Very festive. I"m sure everyone knows YOUR name even if you don't know all of theirs. Haha. Merry Christmas to you and Sue and of course to Harold and Harold's wife.ReplyDelete
Harolds wife says Merry Christmas to you too!! lolReplyDelete
