A Home made Piñata

WHERE ARE WE? La Penita, Mexico

Our little park is filling up really fast.  There are some of the locals coming for the holiday season as well as a few more snowbirds flocking in from the north.  Because we are at the back of the park, we get to look past all the other sites so if any vehicles are parked out from their trailers our view is gone.  So far, so good.

I like to walk up town a couple times a day just for the exercise.  I also like to do it because you see some neat things wandering the back streets.  I saw this lady gluing eggs to a thingy and had to stop to check it out.  The eggs have been blown out and she has filled them with confetti to make it into a piñata.  She was going to paint it all nice.  I would like to see it when it is done but I'm not sure that will happen.  Notice that she is using a soccer ball for the head.

She had dropped an egg on the mat below and it broke so I got to see what was in it.

On the way back home I passed a sign on a house on the beach.  People tend to try to find some shade while on the beach and they will tuck right up to the houses.  I guess using the COVID scare will keep them back a bit!!!

A little swimming this afternoon and a nice supper of dorado after Happy Hour.  Here is what a dorado looks like.  This is from the internet, not a picture I took.  You can buy it at the fresh fish store for 180 pesos for a kilogram.   That's like 10 bucks a kilo!!  So we will make 4 meals out of the 1/2 kilo that I bought.  That's like 1.50 a meal.

After supper I walked back down town for something to do.  I checked on the corner where the purple martens have been and yes they are still there.  They are not there in the daytime, only at night, and its only in the one spot that I see them.

Of course on the way home, I stopped at Kenia's for a chat.  She got my phone and took a pic of course.  She is always smiling and it makes me really appreciate the Mexican people for who they are.  Beautiful people.

I saw this today and it reminds me of life here.

The rest of the evening was spent relaxing and watching a bit of TV.  What is not to like about a day like that!!  Hope your day was great too!!

  1. There is a lot of work going into that pinata! Seems like a pretty relaxing lifestyle down there and that dorado sounds delicious!

  2. Wow what a lot of work, but such a novel idea to use eggs. I think the finished project would also be wonderful to see. Laid back and resting is always good. Happy New Year to all of you fine folks, enjoy!!!!
